July has not been kind to the red beast. The last 2 Saturday's at ECC in particular. First, the drive from hell to get there last Saturday and then not being able to run do to nitrous problems and a broken crankshaft pulley. Then to yesterday's fiasco with what appears to be the same nitrous problems followed by the flat tire. It is all made a lot easier with the help from fellow ECC racers.
In this day of indifference it is wonderful to be involved with a group of people that don't think twice about offering to help. Sure, racers are a breed apart and helping out a fellow racer is nothing new, but the gang at ECC is special and deserve a round of applause. My thanks to so many people and in particular:
Edgar for encouraging me to run on motor and try to hold some points by qualifying for the Pro 8. While I made it in the field on motor only, the flat tire after getting beat in the 1st round of brackets kept me down and Edgar took my place.
Mike Conway for his help on both Saturday's and for stealing Leo from Cartek away from Paul Ziajski yesterday to help diagnose the electrical problems that are screwing with my nitrous solenoids.
Paul Ziajski for letting me steal Leo and for letting my son hang out in his pit and try out the scooter. Congrats on another great win Paul.
John Hadyniak for loaning me a spare wheel and tire setup so I could get the car on the trailer and back home. Only another C3 racer would have the correct wheel and backspacing.
And to all the others who pitched in with support and advice.
It's a long haul from where I am in CT and it is because of days like these that will keep me coming back. Thanks to one and all!
That's what this sport is all about (or that's what it should be about) - having fun and helping each other out. I hope more people take cue and adapt a similar attitude toward racers in need of help
P.S. Leo is the owner of Neverlift. Julio and Dave are owners of Cartek.
