Default Drag tire & wheel combo

Anyone know for sure if I can safely run 17" Bias ET Streets on factory ZO6 rims on the rear, with 16" CCW skinnies up front? I know it's usually the complete 16" package front and rear.

They are both bias ply so no issue there. The diameter of fronts to rear could possibly be an issue for the electronic controls such as ABS, active handling, etc. and there are threads on this forum addressing that which can be found through a search. My guess is no problem.

So let me get this straight you have no concern about run !8" rear and 17" front that the car comes with but you have concern about a 17" rear with 16" front?

Hmm.

I think you will be fine staying bias/bias but I am biased

I guess I did not phrase my question properly. I am running 17" rears at the moment. Thinking about just picking up a set of 16" skinnies. What I need to know is if the 17 rear and 16 fronts will throw abs, traction control, etc.

I think Edgar is saying as long as the front to rear ratio is similar, you shouldn't have a problem...18 to 17 is as 17 is to 16....

I could be wrong.. if I am it will be the 1st time EVER

I don't think rim diameter matters.. as far as the ABS or TC readings for the computer... all you have to do is keep the "overall" tire diameter the same..When I went to 15" Weld Pro Stars I had no problems.. with 26" tires all around..however as soon as I went to 28" rear tires & 26" front.. the ABS light would come on...

The valve stem is a diff size if you run MT Streets in the rear with tubes ,I ran 15 inch tubes with 16 inch wheels, use lots of baby powder in the tire.I never had a problem.
You might need to get into the computer and reset tire size,I had to ,ABS,ASR was growling all the time.

I really hate to do this, but I have to agree with the old man. Don't be concerned with wheel diameter, just tire diameter. If you maintain the dia fairly close to stock that will take care of the front to rear ratio that Edgar pointed out.

80 mph me? no?

Remember braking is largely related to contact patch of your tires and with the smaller tire and smaller patch your braking distance will be affected so I keep a fair distance for stoping when I do or did as I don't do it now cause my distance is longer

What size lugnuts do you plan on using???? Thread size?, shank length?, are they hardened?, chrome or polished????
