HI,
I'm hoping maybe if I get the word out, I might pickup a few associate sponsors for the 2006 NHRA season. Race mostly in Kentucky (Bowlingreen, where they build these things) and adjoining states. Cost would be reasonable (compared to NASCAR) and I sure could use the support with products/supplies or $$.
If anyone's interested please email or call.
I saw a post like this on another forum. The driver had a list of his accomplishments to give the possible sponsor an idea of his "value". How about some facts and figures! Also where will the sponsors advertising appear....
It's damn hard to get money sponsorship. You're more likely to get product sponsorship but that ain't exactly easy either. As suggested above, I'd get a marketing piece together to send to prospective sponsors. List your accomplishments, details about your car, where you race, how many times a season you race, which events, how many people attend these events, what the potential exposure of the sponsor's products/services will be, are you NHRA-licensed, did you go to any drag racing schools, won a Wally, etc.
Not likely that sponsors will come knocking on your door. You have to proactively go out there and solicit. A professional marketing brochure will help. I don't know what your budget is or how serious you are about this but you may even want to consider hiring a public relations comapny that has experience with racing.
I don't do this for a living nor do I go out there seeking sponsors but I have a pretty quick car that set some records. The best I could manage is partial product sponsorship from two shops and sponsored car discounts from my tuner and chassis guy.

You will have to race regionally if not Naitionally to get a sponsor that can afford the costs, AND see a ROI. We've been doing this with our stocker for 3 years and have yet to land anything that was a big help.

OK here go's.
After a long retirement from IHRA/NHRA darg racing I've built another NHRA Stocker. A 1968 Corvette 427 cu.in. "wheels up" stocker. Back before I got out of drag racing I finished 3rd in points (nationally) in 1981 and fifth in points in 1982. As you can tell from my history, I'm not a spring chicken. I know what it takes to promote a product and I'm very serious about the sponsors I do have now.
This new car will race at all NHRA div 3 Lucas Oil series meets in Mich, In, KY, Ohio and Tenn.
Associate sponsor will get an area of about 8 x 10 on both sides of the car to promote their product. Major sponsor gets the whole door both sides plus the sides of my 36 foot enclosed trailer. If anyone is serious about working with me on this please email, call or PM.
I wish you luck, try some local companies looking to get the publics attention preferably one that is racing related. Maybe a few body shops or speed shops would want this type of exposure...
