Thought you might like to see the new cage and other mods that are new for 2006.
Notice how high up the cage goes as it travels from the rear to the front. It bends up to the roofline. Also, both sides have swing out bars. Certified to 8:50.
Also, you can see the cheetah shifter with transbrake. The line lock is on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. The TQ lockup switch is in the drink holder well - you can't see it. Also the removable steering wheel. The seats are connected to the bar in the back and the driver seat has a removable pin that lets you adjust it closer or further away from the steering wheel. We have the shift light tucked under the cage running along the driver's side pillar. A shot of the Novi 2000 hooked up to the forged LS2 402 stroker (thanks Mark ) and just a bit of the alchy tank where the battery used to be. Side shot shows you the hoosiers in the back 14.5" wide x 28" tall. Mini tubs to hold them but still fit a coupe top in the back.

Looks great. Was there much of a problem with the steering wheel? I'm looking to replace my stock wheel since it has the special airbag delete option.
Maybe Doug will respond since he put it in. You can email him and he will give you the low down. With the cage and racing seat - being able to take the wheel off is very nice - especially with my svelt figure.
One thing that seemed to make a big difference for me was when we went to the 14.5 inch wide hoosier tire. Even at 11lbs pressure it feels pretty good and you only get a small amount of drift as you get to the top end at 140mph plus.
I hope we get some sunshine on Saturday to put some heat into the track.
Damn. How the hell do you fit a 14.5 inch tire? Are you mini tubbed?
I made a change from 11.5 to true 10.5 tire this year. Total disregard for competition. Kicking *** on small tire
Lingenfelter mini-tubs.
Marc from the shop was the one - he spotted this tire and was convinced we could fit it up under there on a ccw wheel. There was some adjusting so the tire did not rub on burn out but we have it now. Check it out on Saturday - big meats.
Looking good Alan! Enjoy the season & remember, stay in it!
It's about time you let Alan have a turn Doug, you big bullie!
See you guys Saturday!
Ron
Thanks Ron - Getting in it on launch and staying on it has made all the difference. Until you do it - you don't know the feeling. The big tire package has been very helpful in feeling confident and getting used to the drifting at high speeds.
We are straightening out some interference on the shift light which was causing it to come on and stay on before and after the 2-3 shift. We think it was from the alchy system kicking in as you only start to see that on the 1-2 shift. I'm not that good enough yet to look away and find the tach so I've been shifting it by ear/feel which I am sure is short shifting. If it doesn't work we will plant a big tach right on the dash so I can't miss it.
