c5 with headers, intake and exhaust, Nitto DR. best 60 ft is 2.04, i usually launch at idle, left foot on brake, right on gas pedal. how can i improve my times? thanks.
I run the Nitto DR's as well...a lot has to do with the track prep...launching from idle is fine but what pressure are you running in the tires?...I usually drop them to 26 lbs. and see if I hook...if not, I keep dropping the pressure 1 lb. at a time till it hooks...I've never had to go below 20 lbs...Nitto says we can go as low as 16lbs. but that's a bit low in my opinion...
Also, be aware that these DR's need a good burn out...I do a solid 5 second burn counting , one, one thousand..two......last weekend I had a poor burnout on my first run and had a 2.08 short time spinning like crazy...I got a good burnout on my second run and cut a 1.91 short time with everything else the same...
Arrive with 1/4-1/3 tank of fuel.
Bring idle up as far as possible and yet hold the brakes.
Stage as shallow as possible, i.e. just trip the stage lights.
If you want to substantially reduce short time, install a 2,400rpm TC.
BTW, where are you racing, track, altitude, weather, etc???
