Default Cobalt vs. C4

I have this guy at work who just bought a new Cobalt SS supercharged 5 speed and he constantly, I mean like every time he sees me, tells me how much faster it is than my corvette. I know for a fact that my car is faster, I mean it just seems so obvious. I told him i'll race him at the drag strip if he wants.

I just dug these up from Car and Driver on his Cobalt.
Zero to 60 mph: 6.1 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 16.0 sec
Standing 1/4-mile: 14.7 sec @ 97 mph
Top speed (drag limited): 140 mph

Granted, thats what they got, it could be a little off. Heres my actual results from the track:
Zero to 60 mph: 5.8 sec
Standing 1/4 mile: 14.226 @ 95 mph.

and i'm guessing top speed is something like 150 or higher but that doesnt matter. So what do you guys think? This guy talking a lot of or what?

Who really cares, honestly. Either drop trousers or tell him to STFU.

His mph is higher so anything other than a standing start he might pull on ya. Chances are with a supercharged motor he's already got his pulley swapped and an intake at the least.

Right now I know his car is completely stock, but he's talking about getting a Stage 2 supercharger and upgrades, which i'm sure he'd beat me then. I'm just sick of him thinking he's better than me. I'm not worried cause it will be from a standing start (dragstrip).

I've driven a Cobalt SS (I own a Cobalt LS) and while they are fairly quick, I'd say you'd take him at the track. Unless he has the G85 option with the limited slip diff -- he'll have traction problems.

Compared to my LT4 -- it might as well be standing still. No comparison.

Your specs seem to reflect what you will find here: http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html

Unlike you he hasn't done any research. Or he is just a jerk that wants the attention (while attempting to bring you down). Either way it doesn't really matter. But at least you have enough sense to challenge him legally/safely.

While on the subject of Cobalt's I heard somewhere (don't remember where) that next year or the year after Cobalt will have a TurboCharged engine as an option ... I don't know how true this is... if so, will they drop the Supercharged engine?

No I havent heard anything about it. I wonder why they're switching to a turbo over the supercharger? Trying to make it fit in with the Honda crowd, perhaps.

I have a cobalt and if he is stock you will win at the strip. You'll get him right off the line, probably a car or 2 and then when he shifts 1st to 2nd depending on how good he is with the car you should pick up anywhere from 1-3 lengths because the drop off is horrible. From the end of 2nd on in his car he will probably slowly reel you in but the quater will be long over by the time he would pull even with you
