divette, I just think that 900 hp is too much motor for your current suspension/tire combo to handle.
You will blow the tire off when you leave on the trans brake. When you spin the tires, the front end will not rotate up as much.
My Dana44 is VERY STRONG.
To me it will make JebBurnett (PlumCrazyVette run on Jeb's D44 too)
From him "Super" D44 it is possible to run in middle 8's sec ET and to not break rear.
D44 have a Spool + Viper gears.
D44 case is CarCreations - very "beefier" than stock.
CarCreations "Batwing" cap is strongest then stock cap.
Halfshafts is chromomoly 3" w/HD u-joints + 300M billet axles.
All parts is "Cryo-treated"
It is "bulletproof" D44 - "UNBREAKABLE" absolutely!
My weapon of choice would not be the D44. Instead , it would be a Ford 9" with 35 spline axles. Even that is not unbreakable or bulletproof.
Those two words in bold are rarely used in racing circles.
for those of you running coilover rears ,what sort of spring rate are you using?
(Am using QA1 Proma Star 12 way)
Jim (tpi 421 vette) said that 170lb was too hard and he had gone down to 150's.
Have no way of weighing car but have gutted completely and running a fuel cell where the tank was, so my weight is probably less than your "street legal" cars.
Also, 4 bar length with solid rear ?
18" seems to be the most popular with the full size cars.
Do we maintain the same wheelbase / bar length ratio on our shorter wheelbase cars?
Just want my car to hook up like Phil's and Dave's
Rodj, I believe that I would start with 150lb springs. Are your coilover/shocks installed perpendicular to the ground. Is the battery in the rear and is the car backhalved? WHat size fuel cell?
My 4-link bars are short 13-15". You can make them longer, but they will extend to the rear of the seats. This requires the seats to be moved foward.
Phil
My 4-link bars are 18" top & 20" lower but it took alot of fabrication to get that length bar in there. Phil's bars are shorter than mine but work just as well without removing the bulkhead behind the seats. Not sure what length Jim ended up with but I'm sure he's close to us.
Because the car is strip only, was quite prepared to modify bulkhead for longer bars if any advantage.
Can get 14" at present without mods so will copy Phil's setup.
