Im building a c5 coupe for drag racing only pretty much. I am converting it to auto and plan on leaving the irs till it breaks. Whats the best suspension setup. Here is what I was thinking.
no front sway bar
qa1's in the front
stock height suspension
QA1 have a number of settings (I want to say 6) via a **** on the shocks. Now they make them double adjustable.
The original question is very vague. If you plan to put 1000 rwhp through irs, you may have issues. What kind of car are you building? Turbo? Supercharged? Nitrous? NA? If you go with nitrous or supercharger, you'll see a lot more stress and the irs probably won't live very long. I think turbos are a little more forgiving than leaving on 400 shot of spray so the irs may last longer.

Give some details.
Its going to be a nitrous car ( c5 coupe) but may end up bracket racing it on all motor somwtimes. The car is going to be grudge raced more than anything. We not looking for anything super fast but 5's in the 1/8 is what I want. The car will also have to be able to be driven on the street sometimes. The goal is to be light as possible but yet look fairly stock if you look in the windows. Everything from under the hood that wasnt needed is gone. Looking for two racing seats now.
you only want to go 5's in the1/8..not so fast, if you buy my car, you can still keep yours and save 35,000.not to mention years of testing, are you ready to start the endless journey?

I would be happy running 5.99's. I know we can go in the 6's pretty easy. I would like 5's but Im not gonna break the bank trying if it goes low 6's all the time without going through a lot of parts.
Start with the CCW drag pack and another 45K and you are their.
I wont even be close to 45k for low 6's unless something goes wrong. Can't say about 5's. I have camaro's running mid 6's and have less than 10k total in them counting the cars. I know a vette is more money but everything else is the same except for the IRS pretty much. Well I guess it all depends on how you build the cars and who does the work on how much you could have in them. I have my own business and do all the work so that saves alot vs someone dropping a car off and writing a check.

I had very little in my mustang and ran sixes on the motor. I plan on running low sixes in my vette with a 422" LS7 headed motor and a stick. James
I have QA1's on my '99 FRC and they are double adjustable (on compression and rebound). I have found a 2 setting in the front and a 11 setting in the rear works good for me. At 425 Hp, I can just barely get the tires off the ground with a stock susupension height.

Wow that is impressive. Are you still running a 6 speed?

Hey Lorenz I see you list SC as one of your locations. Is that where the ar is? You may want to consider running in our National Corvette Challenge in Richmond Virginia in Feb next year.

Yeah the car is in SC for right now. Richmond Virginina is a little to far to go for me. We have two z06's we are trying to run, so taking two vettes, truck and trailer and all the other stuff that far to much of a pain. I would love to go but Im pretty sure I cant make that in Feb.
