Normally it takes me 6 hours to get home from Minneapolis.

Yesterday or today.... 24 hours.

Talk about one mistake after another....wow.

Short version, wrong plane equipment for our weather yesterday.

Weather in NJ so we are delayed about 3 hours out of Minneapolis.
When we get to Newark we have to fly by cause clouds are to low and they cannot see the runway at the go/no-go point (missing equipment...instrumentation to land without seeing the runway)
2 more attempts and we bail and have to go to Pittsburgh for fuel.
New plan, go to Detroit, catch another plane back to Newark.
Get to Detroit air space...THREE more fly bys and guess what...need fuel! Apparently it is cheaper in Detroit so they only bought what they needed in Pittsburgh to get to Detroit.
Now they give up and send us to a hotel in GRAND RAPIDS. Only thing, Grand Rapids is closed....only 2 people lift to make flight arrangements and fill out hotel vouchers for 80+ people at 1 in the morning.

Took a 630 to Detroit then a 10 am to Newark today and get in my house at exactly 24 hours from when I started in Minneapolis.

Bothered? me? Why? I got my 2 hours of sleep at a free hotel

It was the first time something like this has happened to me...in six months

 

Look at the brightside - all those extra freq flyer miles

Edgar POI If they don't see the runway at 100' they have to break off. Most of the new planes have the systems to take off and land in no vis (hands-off) but they don't use them.
