Got my car all back together w/ new motor and transmission. Really looking forward to some track time coming up. I've been making a few runs on a private road by my house and seem to be missing 3rd a lot. I've done the washer mod on the trans and adjusted the crap out of the shifter, which is the older B&M shifter. Sometimes shifting is smooth and sometimes it seems notchy. This crap is annoying. I'd almost rather be slapped than to miss a gear. Thinking about trying a different shifter. Any of you guys racing w/ a m6 let me know your experience. May be its the driver, but damn how hard should you have to try to get it in third gear.
How are you shifting into 3rd? From 2nd, you should open up your hand and push straight up with your palm. Do not wrap your fingers around the shift **** going to 3rd. You should be able to do it with any shifter. After markets ones will make it faster and give you more of a secure feeling.
I used to frequently have trouble with the shift to 3rd. RPM Transmissions fixed the problem with one of their transmissions and a McLeod slave cylinder.
Yea, I've read Rangers technique and use it. There is something going on w/ the shifter or something else. This is my second C5 and I had no problems shifting in the other car. Would a new shifter make that much difference? It seems to me that they would all be about the same. I may order a Hurst,or a Kirban, I don't know. The car is set up really good, just have to get this BS straighten out w/ the shifter
Hey man!!! Hope you are not having a 3rd syncro issue (been there done that, and a loose nut behind the wheel ).
I am in your shoes, and there are some folks here that are blessed with much better skills with an M6/12 then others. I have seen Robz and Dr. Ron (MSG Huff too) makes passes and all I can say is wow!!! These guys are so much faster then me and smoother too. I thought the hard part of a stick was nailing the lanuch but IMO, the best part for ET lies in the shifting (I suck).
When we finaly meet up, I will throw you my keys and you can see how a hurst feels, cool? Mayeb a good bleed on the clutch, or maybe try a fluid swap in the tranny??? I have done M1 (ok) , RP shrco mesh (loved it), RP ATF (same as the other RP, IMO), redline shrco (now synco into 3rd when cold) and now redline ATF (great). Might help. Good luck man and I hope you get it straight soon as I am looking foreword to seeing yuor car man!

Just had tranny rebuilt, and have redline fluid in it. I also had another c5 that had a Hurst in it and it shifted fine. I don't know what to try next. It doesn't seem like it would make that much difference going from one shifter to another. May talk to William (Wiggins Racing and Performance) about bleeding the clutch. I may order another Hurst shifter and give it a go. Thanks for the input. Looks like you guys had a good time in Virginia. I'll meet up w/ you all sooner than later at a challenge.
The dirty little secret is that the M-6 before "04" simply wasnt very reliable..................and mine sucked from first to second OH OH,...and what about the great shift from second BACK into first??? OH yes I did!! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

What did you do? I just had the tranny rebuilt, and am going to bleed the clutch tomorrow.
I don't drag race, but I try to do a lot of fast shifting, not an expert by any means. tThat being said, I took my b&m out, put the stock shifter back in, and while changing it, I lubed the crap out of it. Have only missed 3rd once so far ( I still suck)and its been about 2 months
Just talked w/ Jared from textralia and he said that I probably ruined the clutch by using an adjustable m/c. He said to call back Monday, and he would see about taking care of the clutch under warranty. This will be my second dealing w/ this guy on a clutch warranty. This company has to have the best customer services I've experienced.
