Default Shift Question - 1992 C4

Guys - sorry for the Noob question

I have been reading zfdoc and other sites regarding power shifting and the recommendation is (obviously) to practice synchronizing hand movement and clutch movement. However; should I be timing my shift so that the clutch moves first (i.e. the shifter starts moving only when the clutch pedal hits the mat), or should the two move at the same time so that the shifter hits the next gear at the same moment the clutch pedal hits the mat?

Thanks,
Andy.

I'm a noob too, so hopefully someone else will chime in, but power shifting is usually bad in drag racing? If you're mostly stock like me, I'm shifting near redline (5500 rpms or so) and if I power shifted, I would definitely be bouncing off the rev limiter, which if I understand correctly is a bad thing. So you would need to shift earlier to power shift, i'd imagine, which is also a bad thing (wasting some of the best power band on a C4, which I could be mistaken, is the higher RPM like 3500-5000).

Just a thought... I could be WAY off base here. What I go for is more of a 'speed shifting' technique, when I go to shift, I lay off the gas for a split second while pushing the clutch in only the amount it needs to disengage the gear (about halfway down) and shift to the next gear while slamming the gas pedal back down. I have a Centerforce clutch installed, so it takes the beating pretty well (so far).

(BTW: I hope I am totally off base here and someone chimes in and tells me how to improve my time... my best is a 13.38 and I don't see how i'm going to get much faster without some mods, hoping my technique could use some improvement)

Power shifting is an art not a science.

If you have to think about the coordination of your left foot and right hand you blew it.
