Okay keeping file size, screen size and quality over the internet in a delicate balance, what do you think of these two?

This is a 14 second clip of Ralph and John H burnouts.

Be sure to set your video player to 100% not 50% and not 200% for the first viewing

This one is 432 pixels wide and is just under 1.9 mb
http://www.challengevideos.com/2007/...E0010_0042.wmv

Also 432 pixels but sharper picture and about 3.1 MB
http://www.challengevideos.com/2007/...E0010_0042.wmv

The next two are about 3.3 MB each but bigger

First one is 720 pixels wide
www.challengevideos.com/2007/event1/Movie.wmv

Second one is 856 pixels wide

your video is good Olivier. You have a couple advantages thou. Position on the starting line, sunlight and no need to put up 2000 clips so no server issues.

Additionally, I have experimented with some mov stuff and while most can view them, not all visitors have the software to view them so I try to stay with .wmv

Edgar,

FWIW, the 856 width is working fine on my computer.

Videos 2,3,&4 worked great on my computer. The first one was 'fuzzy'.

I had all of them on full screen, and the 720 & 856 were the best in clarity.

anybody with a PC only needs to download Quicktime and .mov will work..It's that easy.. However, not everyone has a 5+ MBPS connection to download a 16+ MB video..Luckily, I won't run into problems with my server space.. Got 200 GB available and only used like 50 mb so far
.wmv will only work on PC's and not on Macs but .mov will work on both..

The 856 looks great here. I have a 17 inch LCD with 1024x768 resolution. I think my setup is pretty standard and the footage looked awesome.

I guess for me the question would be what file size is too big for the average users? The 3.3 meg file was fine for me, but I'm sitting on a 10 meg pipe.

I'm running Win Media Player on a 17" LCD and these looked fine.

Is what Olivier saying correct that .wmv cannot be viewed on a mac? I had not heard that before.

Anybody using a mac can tell me if they cannot view our videos?

Olivier I played around some h.264 codec stuff and was real happy with it but was concerned about the use of quicktime...yes it is a download but not a lot of folks have and then it tries to associate itself with other stuff and that makes it all crazy. For a power user that is not a problem but not all of us are power users

Bigger the better I say, but I do realize you have to host millions of videos(as time goes on, we will hit that mark I'm sure), so you would probably have to go with something in the medium range.
