Default Need advice

Hi

I posted this first over on the wheel/tire forum but I did not get any response.

For lack of traction issues with a new 496 in a midyear I need to make some adjustments that will include 235 BFG Dr's on 6" Bolt on KO repos. My question is do I need to install the rim screws like the guys with more traction do.

My only other mods in the back is a suspension locator kit from Toms and the base kit (spacer and struts) from dragvette. I am running a alum flywheel with 4:11"s and a TKO 600 so I am thinking I may be able to get by without a high rpm side step. I will have it running in another 2-3 weeks and am trying to correctly anticipate as much as possible and save some hindsight headaches and $

The car is mostly street driven and I know BFG does not recommend less that 6.5" rims for this tire however I have heard of guys using them hassle free but with rim screws. If is is possible I would like to avoid doing that to brand new ko repos but I do not want to sacrifice my safety or anyone else's.

Thanks in advance

Doug

Screwing the lip of the rim to the bead of the tire ensures that both turn in-unison, and so that tubes won't spin with the tiress, tearing-off the valve-stem of the tube in the hole of the wheel:
if you're not using inner-tubes, I don't think there is any reason to pin the wheels & tires together.

Hi Glensgages

Thank you for your reply

That sounds logical and based on that I am going to pass on the rim screws being as I do not plan to use tubes.

Thanks again
