Default Drag Strip Etiquette?

OK - I am new to this forum and new to drag racing in general. I went to the track (Atco) for the first time last year with my car and ran in the 13's before I blew it up. I obviously did not know what I was doing in several areas. I had to ask what "deep" meant on the windows of some cars, and I admit that I don't know poop about staging my car or what is expected of me when I pull up to the tree, except not to red light it.
Is there a rule book, an article in a magazine, a class to take, somewhere I can learn the do's and dont's of drag racing?

I had the same problem with my first boat. I got it out on the water and realized that I didn't know how to read the markers or what I was doing, so I found the US Power Squadron and took some classes.

Now I need to learn how to do this properly too....

So what DOES "deep" mean?

Thanks for your help!

Best article i've ever seen on the topic:

http://www.staginglight.com/guide/index.html

Or just come race with us at the Corvette Challange and ask for help.

That is a good link for bracket racing...for the basics of drag racing in general try this..

http://www.corvettechallenge.info/howtodragrace.php

To answer your question, DEEP written on a window refers to how that racer plans to stage his car at the christmas tree (starting line)...if you watch two cars staging for a run you will see one car creep in until he lights his top two amber bulbs...then his opponent lights his top two..this is called pre-staging...then one of them will light the next two amber bulbs down on the tree and his opponent will do the same...this is called being fully staged...if one of them has DEEP on his car he will then creep forward even more until his top two ambers will actually go out...this is called being DEEP staged...

Welcome. Never be afraid to ask a question. Ralph gave you a great link to read up on bracket racing.
FYI I'm one of those "DEEP" cars.

There's a wealth of knowledge available in your neck-o'-the-woods:
take Ralph up on his offer to watch / participate at OBTRP.
