Hello guys and gals. I have been checking out some of your racing threads and you guys have some killer vettes. But my question is, which of the members on here has the fastest "street legal" vette here?
I'm just wondering. I know some of you guys are running mid to low 10's and a few are in the 9's.
Well anyway, its nice to see some vettes that can lay the smack down.
Take care all.

I am not taking anything away from anyone , however I consider a " street car " one that is driven to the track, not on a trailer... one that is driven to work or going on a ride up to mass to see a yankee red socks game in boston then drive home .. Lets be real now there are some really fast cars but I woulds say they are race cars, not cars that you take you wife out on a date with . Again I am not bashing anyone just an opinion.

If you drive it too the track its a street car. So if your lucky and only have to drive 5 miles to the track you got a street car. Drove my car to Englishtown for the swap meet, with a passenger, could of used the Ac, have a good sticker. I knew i had a street car
A Street Car is DEPENDABLE ,I'm still waiting to race these dependable 9 SEC C5 street cars. We have alot 1 run and done streetcars. Do street car's have a back up trannys & motors. We can debate streetcar.
Major is Top Dog in the East ,or Maybe ?? Leo ran 6.80s
Trailering does not really define a street car...I know guys who trailer their stock street cars to the track simply for peace of mind...I say a street car is one that can be driven LEGALLY on a 3,000 mile round trip without notice and only enough time to change to street tires if needed...
I see outrageous hot rods driven a few miles on the street to cruise in's all the time...they are anything but street cars...this guy drives 10 miles to a hot rod show every month...is this a street car?...lol
I would say that Stealth99 has the fastest true street car in this group. Interior is factory except for the full roll cage. Runs in the Mid 9's and can be used as a daily driver. Drives to the track..... runs nines, drives home. Also it Has made 1k mile plus trips with no issues. But again, It all depends on what your interpretation of a "Street Car" or "Street Legal Car" is. I know for a fact that Mike could drive his car from here to Florida (or anywhere for that matter) with no issues.
I guess everyones term of "Street legal car" is diffrent. Well anyway, i got my answer. Seems like 9sec or quicker is the standard for a few of you guys. My hats off to you. I was just looking for some of you guys who have vettes that are not trailer only race cars. Something that can cruz the streets and pull off a 9sec run or quicker. Granted you trailer your cars to the races, but they don't stay on the trailer after the race.
So would i be right in saying that some of you fast guys run in the NMCA or NSCA?
Oh, by the way, i have built a 9.90 car that had A/C

I think this line sums up the street car/race car question very nicely. Does it stay on the trailer or in your tuner's garage all year while you're racing or does it get driving on the street for pleasure?
I don't agree with the "street cars don't get trailered to the track" statement. If I had a trailer I'd use it for my 11 second car, just because I drive 2 hours and would like piece of mind. Also, A/C an radio don't matter, plenty of factory hot rods don't have those ammenities, so those don't make a street car. But it has to be a car you can take out at any time for a pleasure cruise or a trip to work on a nice day. If you can fire it up at will and take it out for a 2 hour cruise, then I'd say it's a street car. If you need 1/2 an hour to prepare the car and can't get stuck in traffic without bubbling up antifreeze then I'd say you don't have a street car.
Wow 3000 mile trip, I couldnt drive my work car 3000 miles round trip..I guess its not a steet car..(92 honda civic)
Chris...your Honda is a street car...a crummy street car but a street car nonetheless... ...now if you could drive your vette to Florida for a race and then drive it home it would be a genuine rocket ship street car...
I don't really care cuz if a car is fast it is fine by me, street or strip...when you think about it, the faster one goes the more they have to chop up the car to fit all the safety stuff in there which alone moves a car more away from true street car status...anyway, faster is better...

When my car is running, which will be this weekend FINALLY, I always trailer it to the track, if it breaks down I have no problem getting it home plus all the stuff I bring in my Tahoe won't fit in the Vette.
