Much ado about nothing.....

Well, it was a short night...
...the joint was jammed with racers so we only got two time shots in...my first one was encouraging with a .018 R/T and an 8.97 ET with a 2.06 short time...not to bad for the 3900 DA and my deep staging...Now comes the fun...my second time shot I have a mediocre .053 R/T but my short time drops to 1.95...naturally this led to a 8.86 ET...the weather hadn't changed a lick to speak of and the track was no better...what the heck am I going to dial for the first round?...
I realized I was up on the converter a bit higher than normal for my second time shot and that I had gotten a real good burnout...OK, so I'll dial 8.86 and make sure I am up to 1200 rpm on the converter (versus my normal 1000 rpm)and get a good burnout.....
I am lined up with a very cool car for the first round...a 40 Ford coupe with giant slicks and skinnies driven by a guy who had to be in his 70's...his back window was covered with winner stickers so I knew this wasn't his first rodeo...so I am dialed 8.86 and he is dialed 9.73...his car looked and sounded fast but it wasn't...
We are both deep staging but he gets in real fast...I am trying to get my rpm right before knocking out my top bulbs and the car is fighting me...I finally give up when it holds at 1400 rpm and go in deep...he leaves and then comes my turn...I felt like I hit the light right on the money but oops!....premature acceleration on my side!...turns out I had an .010 red....I also spun out of the hole pretty badly with a 2.10 short and ran it out the back door for a 8.92...he had a .048 light and ran 9.79 so he was ripe for the taking...fooey!
I realize I red lit because I was up on the converter too much....I decide to go on welfare and buy back in...I have it all figured out now for sure...I will just lower my rpm to 1200 at launch and this will both give me a good light but also stop me from spinning out of the hole...where is that buy back dood?...I can't get my money out quick enough...
Round two and I dial 8.90....I am against a guy in one of those Impala's with the corvette motors in it...I think it was a 96...he is dialed 9.70....I get a good burn out and get in deep with the rpm right at 1200...I'm feeling good and might even have a little chubby working...
So my night was a short one but so were my buddies...Mike missed on his light and got beat and Craig broke out in the first round and red lit on his buy back...Craig's time shots looked so promising too....014 and .009 R/T's and on the number both runs...guess ya never know...
Stay tuned for next months episode of Fuzzy's "Dialing by Dart Board" coming to a forum near you...

RACE ON!!!
