Default First 11

First race with my new engine 2 months ago did not work out well due to original fuel line being too restrictive and the fuel pressure dropped to zero soon after 1/8 mile. Now I fixed that last week with new 10An line and no starvation problems.

My class was only allowed to make 4 passes in last saturdays race. It did not rain, but the humidity was really high and temperature was around 52 fahrenheit. So there was big traction problems and launch rpms where around 1500. I have 3.08 rear, 4yrs old 26x10.5x15 ET Streets, TH400 setup. Total weight is around 3460lbs.

Anyways best ET was 11.705 and best mph 123 and best 60ft 2.0...

What do you say can I hope any improvement next summer (the winter is coming close here soon )

You definately have the power to run a low 11.
I would try some new tires.

What would you guys recommend? I do have 8" Weld wheels. Which one would give me better results

Part nr 3752 26X10.50-15LT ET Street (similar as my current ones)

or

Part nr 3053 26.0/10.0-15 ET Drag (these might demand wider wheel )

I can see he has tuned the chassis properly for Drag Racing as the front reached sky when he leaves the line and weight moves where it should be = rear tires. I have there plenty to enhance there (550lbs front springs, 7leaf rear spring, 1 1/8 front and 3/4 rear sway bars and stiff shocks - more fsuitable for the road racing )

I also road race and auto cross mine...........multi pupose car and drive it 700 miles to go race as well
Here's a link to my last road race last month.........160+mph in the straights and hanging with C6Z06s in the twisties are fun in a stroker motor.

Default Front runners, worth?

Anybody having done tests to verify what the skinny front runners would be giving benefit compared to normal street tires and wheel?

In terms of ET or MPH gain...

My current set up is 255/50/17 Kumho´s on AR TTII wheels

My best 60' times on my 97'
New MT ET Street Radial 275/40/17 on C5 OEM 17 x 8.5 Magnesium wheels = 1.47 60'
Worn out 26 x 11.50 x 16" Mt ET Street on a 16 x 10 CCW drag pack = 1.51 60'
New 26 x 11.50 x 17" Mt ET Street on an PWO Y2K 5 spoke 17 x 8.5 = 1.53 60'
1/2 worn (3/32” tread) 26 x 11.50 x 16" Mt ET Street on a 16 x 10 CCW drag pack = 1.53 60'
1/2 worn 345/30/18 bfg dr on HRE 545 18 x 12 wheel = 1.49 60'
I have over 300 passes on these set-ups together and at different tracks....

Now here was my test:

I lost 84 lbs of wheel/tire combo weight going to a CCW drag pack.............and went from a 10.97 to a 10.87. 60' & DA almost identical
I have done tests on that.........

My street setup:
HRE 18 x 9.5 545 w/ clear center +58mm w/ 275/35/18 BFG KDWs 52 lbs ea.
HRE 18 x 12 545 w/ clear center +74mm w/ 345/30/18 BFG DRs 57lbs ea.

Best so far 10.97@122.25, 1.528 60', DA -775

My CCW drag pack:
CCW drag pack rear 16 x 10 classic full polished with well worn MT ET Street 26 x 11.50 x 16 (1/32” tread) with center caps 34 lbs ea.

CCW drag pack front 16 x 5 classic full polished with like new Firestone deluxe champion 5.00/5.25-16 (10/32” tread) with center caps 33 lbs ea.
Best so far 10.87@125.42, 1.538 60', DA -790

So loosing 84 lbs of rotating mass gets ya about 1/10th.
Results may vary

Drove fine..........even played with et street/radial on the front 10.92 and next dr on the back at skinny in the front

Thanks!!!!!! massive and usefull data!

Would the correct interpretation be that using skinny front runners will give you small gains, but due to reduced weight not due to so much smaller rolling resistance?
