Did you say that the car was originally green? Like dark green?
If so I think I know the car, we raced together for many years! Same flared wheel wells, six tail light, snorkle hood, stock rear, SB......
PM me and maybe I can shed some light & info,
Dave

Dark green was the color!
Thats the car!!!! You can see all the work on this car was done along time ago. Call me any time at 630-772-0554 thats my cell.
(7 days a week from 7 am to midnight) The more I look into this car the more I find it was raced as early as 1971 and to 1989 was the last document of drag racing papers on the car. Ginos paint and body painted it red in the very late1980's. Also I found racing documents in the glove box from Virginia and decales from a speed shop in Virginia. I'll try to post the pict of the speed shop decal.
Thanks Strat Matsas

The decal is actually for "Pro Auto Repair" in Fairfax, Va. a shop
owned by Carlton Phillips and the head Corvette mechanic was Eddie Dudrow. Pro Auto was one of the sponsors on the cars that my partner & I raced in the Washington D.C. area in the '70s-80s. The '77 Corvette we raced with the Pro Auto Repair logo is in one of the show car mags from back in the day with a knockout blond posed with it!
The car you bought was raced by a friend named John Boughers(sp?) from McLean, Va. and was called the "Virginia Gentleman". John was a bit more senior than most of us at the time(even older than Panuzzo! ), over 70+ but he could still spank ya' on the tree, good racer good guy If someone has a collection of old vette mags from that era an article was done on him but I don't think I have a copy.
Anyway, I'll talk to you tomorrow and start filling you in on more of the details, who worked on it, built the engines,......
Later, this is too cool,
Dave

Now THIS is going to be a great thread! Let us know all the scoop and don't leave out any of the details. Cars like that deserve to be left as racers.
I think you need to plan the trip to Bowling Green this May for the Forum Cruise in. You can make a few passes at the track. It's great...no waiting and no pressure. great place to play with it!

I stopped by there on the way up. I will be there for sure for the drags. The musuem was interested in the car when i came trailering it up but I had no time to tell about the car. The kids had to go to school the next day. I can't wait to run this car the motor sounds so very health. Every one who I start it up for is in dissbelief of the sound( like a monster motor)

Take a look at the old Ko-Motion Vette. Absolutely one of the best Vette's ever!
http://www.komotioncorvette.com/
Maybe keep it as an old racer?
Looking forward to the pics.

Oh man I can't tell you what an experience it was reading that link. Where did you find it? It brought back alot of memories. My older brother was good freinds with Charlie and I remember seeing the car parked outside as I was only 16yrs old at the time and into drag racing. I'm sending the link to my brother out in Vegas . I know it will impact him.

I have a lot of leads for the history but I have to piece them together. Like you know of this car I need to know when, where and who is Charlie. I'd like to here from your brother also. Did you know the car when it was green or red?
thanks Strat Matsas

I've always been a fan of the KoMotion car and Charlie's story with it. It's pretty sad...but the part of the buddy's setting the record in his name is just what it's all about.
I'd like to hear anything more about it from you or your brother. Some more of the behind the scene's stuff.
Bstbrgr- the KoMotion car ran around probably in similar timeframe as your car. Good chance that folks remembering it will know your car too.
Other Vette folks back then were Bernie Agaman, Bo laws, Phil Coccuza and even Lee Shepard and John Lingenfelter.

A friend of mine in my car club TIME BANDITS knows this car very well. It was a very good running car in its day.
A recomendation....Keep the tradition going....Freshen' it up and put back on the track (where it belongs).

Larry is the guy I bought the car from! He is a great guy and a veteran drag racer. He ran a car called the Grey Ghost that was sponsored by factory Pontiac. It was a Alky injected car. He got the 67 drag vet from Gino in Hollywood FL ,Gino got the car from a guy in Virginia that bought it from the guy who built the car in 1971 his name is John Boughers. The car was called the "Virginia Gentleman" and was sponsored by Cam2 oils and fuel. It was green in color with a gold strip where the black strip is now. Dave (AKA Hooked Up)gave me alot of info as he drag raced with the owner of this car in VA. When i said the original color of this car was green thats when Dave recognized the car as the Virginia Gentleman! From that I started googleing and found the Original race builder named John Boughers http://www.vabass.com/Angler_Profile.../February2.htm Mclean Va. He died the week I pick up the car in Hollywood FL Jan 15th. in his obituarary it talks about his racing corvette the Virginian Gentleman. Dave gave me some leads on the cars mechanics in the Winchester Va area called the Justice Bros. that worked and help build the car. I'll try to post some of the google info a put more info and pictures. I'm trying to find old picts of the car when it was green and lettered the "Virginia Gentleman" on the doors
