I couldn't tell. I knew it seemed like forever but when the red came on I died a little inside, lol. I beat him in the race the day before and gave him a freebie the next.
Anybody else done this before? Man, what a horrible way to lose.

I've done that in a time trail about 3 years ago. Talked to the starter after the fact and got a lesson on how auto start works. This weekend a super pro guy did it and got eliminated. Happens 3-4 times a year at my local track.
What sucks is I have been drag racing for 12 years and have never done this. I've done a burnout in reverse by mistake once. Twice in a row. That was embarrasing....

I knew a fellow who'd been racing 20+ years, and went to a different track for a big-money race once.....
he staged with the BACK-tires after doing his burn-out, and got counted-out.
Afterwards, in the pits, he kept saying, "I thought the tree was in the wrong-place when I was looking at it....."
That little shaded cover/tent over the area where the line workers stand is a brilliant idea for real hot/sunny summer events (or for racing during heavy rain ).
