traction control
I have read to turn off the traction control when racing from a dead stop.
What is the reason for this ? What is gained by doing this and what
are the negatives ? Should it also be turned off if racing from a rolling start as oppossed to a dead stop ?
I have a 2000 coupe with 400 rhp and a 100 shot, 6 speed.
Test it out at the track. If you kill the tires then you kill your ET.Get your tunner to have the TC hit as soft as possible so when it does activate it doesn't bog the car down.Or get some real tires and just shut it off
Good luck.
I think you will get some better advise here, if you are serious about racing the traction should ALWAYS BE OFF! because if you start to spin (even a little) the TC will kick in .. it will retard the timing apply the rear breaks etc.. until the spin stops... THEN it will advance the timing etc... but by this time you will have lost a BUNCH of ET and have a slow run..
The TC should always be OFF.. and either get drag radial tires, or lower the launch RPM and slip the clutch, or whatever you have to do..to prevent tire spin WITHOUT using TC!!
If you are racing from a roll your doing it on the street, and NO ONE I KNOW HERE STREET RACES so you on your own in that Dept.
Good luck I'm sure you will get further tips here...
