Default Minimal Track Tool Kit

Alright racers, after a few minor issues at the track I decided that when Moroso re-opens I will now carry a small TRACK only Tool Kit with me.

I was wondering what those of you that are more experienced, carry with you as a SMALL useful tool kit. Any specific help as to what is really needed will be very helpful.

This might be helpful to many more than myself so all your reasonable suggestions are wanted.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Bob

Thanks Ed, rest up and enjoy your extended vacation. I think when the track re-opens, you will see car counts climb substantially.

For the minimal, Plugs that are already gaped, sockets, ratchet, extensions, wrenches, screw drivers, hammer, hot blond, air gauge, tape, epoxy, pen, paper and an extra set of rubbers!!

If you dont trailer an AAA card is always good!!

Good info, especially the hot blonde. Fortunately my wife happens to be one. I do trailer and I have the AAA card. Thank You for your help.

I had an issue the last time I ran and one of my buddies had a small leatherman tool which was quite helpful. This got me thinking about must have tools to fix minor issues while at the track.

An extra quart of oil and transmission fluid.
Air Pump
Screwdrivers
Wire clippers
Electrical Tape
Couple sizes of wiring
Test light
Flashlight
Excedrin
Cell phone charger
Duct Tape

Those are a few things that you could add to your box of goodies. Couple of the items are things I could have used at the track.

Bob...BTW...on the fence now about building my C4 into a rocket sled. Might back it down to a 12 second car. I am having visions of another Corvette in my driveway right now, and to do so, I am going to have to give a little (and give the Charger to Steph).

my minimal track kit filled a rubbermaid, the crew used it as a picnic table and then went to the stands - that was the last we saw it

HAND SOAP ~ if yer gonna work on the car at the track, you gotta clean-up afterwards:
I prefer Fast Orange w/ pumice.

2 ONE-GALLON BOTTLES OF WATER ~ you'll need to rinse the soap off your hands, and it doubles as drinking-water or coolant, if-needed.

SHOP-RAGS / PAPER-TOWELS ~ self-explanatory

AN EXTRA PAIR OF LONG PANTS ~ if you tear your pants, you might-not be allowed to continue racing if an opponent protests your waredrobe being torn:
an extra pair of Dickies is cheap-insurance.

SUNGLASSES ~ I was advised to protect your eyes from the sunlight until you strap-in before a run, and have always abidded that suggestion.

SUNTAN LOTION ~ as we get-older, our bodies react differently to being exposed to the sun:
no-reason to losing a round because your skin is sore, distracting you from driving.

OK, now to the good-stuff!

EXTRA ACCESSORY BELTS / COOLANT HOSES ~ they may help you advance to the next-round, or limp-home.

ASSORTMENT OF ELECTRICAL-CONNECTORS ~ loops, butt-connectors, Scotch-locks, etc., with crimping tool.

EXTRA FUSES / IN-LINE FUSE-BOX

SPECIALTY-TOOLS, such-as needle-nose pliers, Torx-drive tools, etc.

ANYTHING SMALL THAT HAS BROKEN-BEFORE ~ if it broke once, it might break again..... carry what specialty-tools are needed to repair these items, as-well, such-as bastardized wrenchs, customized pliers, etc.

A FRESH BALL-POINT PEN ~ to sign the Winner's Check with.

I carried all-this, a 3-drawer tool-box and a small floor-jack, in the trunk of a 2nd generation Z28, for 2 seasons while competing twice-weekly:
ya gotta-do what ya gotta-do.
