Default 8.50 Update

8.50 Index Updates

We have been very busy working on many new additions to the new 8.50 Index Series – a #1 Qualifier sponsor, a points series and Associate & Special Award sponsor opportunities for the remaining seven races.

Finelines Automotive is very proud to announce they are the #1 Qualifier sponsor beginning with the June 13 event. The #1 Qualifier of each event will receive $100 and a plaque courtesy of Finelines Automotive.

Also, beginning with the June 13 event, the 8.50 Index Series racers will now compete for points. The points sign up fee is $55.00. When a racer signs up for points, he/she will receive two 8.50 Index tee shirts. Additional tee shirts will be sold at the Raceway Park Souvenir Store. The top two points finishers at the end of the season will receive a points jacket and a payout. As of this writing, the preliminary end of season payout will be $1000 to the #1 points finisher and $500 to the #2 points finisher. As Associate sponsors are added to the series, the end of season payout will increase. The points system is explained in the last paragraph.

Associate sponsorships are available for each event. When an Associate sponsor is named for an event, an additional $250.00 will be added to the winner’s payout and $200.00 will be added to the end of season points payout. Our goal is to name an Associate sponsor for each event.

Special Award sponsorships are available including #1 Qualifier Bonus and Top Speed. We welcome our sponsors to create their own special award for the 8.50 Index Series. Some suggestions include Best Appearing Car, Best Appearing Crew, Best Burnout, Best Wheelstand, etc.

The remaining dates for the 2008 season are: June 13, July 11, August 8, August 22, September 19, October 3 and October 24.

Please contact Keith Mittermann at 732-872-8160 or 908-500-5642 for information on sponsorship opportunities.

Points will be awarded as follows for an 8 car field: Winner 3 points, Runner-Up 2
points, Semi-Finalist 1 point, 1st Round Loser 0 point, Attempting to Qualify 1 point, Qualifying in Top 8 1 point (Alternates will not receive this point), #1 Qualifier 0 point. Points will be awarded as follows for a 16 car field: Winner 4 points, Runner-Up 3 points, Semi-Finalist 2 points, Quarter-Finalist 1 point, 1st Round Loser 0 point, Attempting to Qualify 1 point, Qualifying in Top 8 1 point (Alternates will not receive this point), #1 Qualifier 0 point.
If there is a tie for a position, the tiebreaker is as follows: A. Number of elimination wins. B. The rating point system: Each driver will be rated according to his/her position in the standings. The rating system will begin after competition of the third points day (August 8). The rating will be as follows: If a racer is in first place, one rating point will be awarded; second place will receive two rating points, third place will receive three rating points, etc. If two or more racers are tied with the same amount of points for any position, they will each receive the same amount of rating points i.e. tied for fifth each racer gets five rating points. The rating numbers will be increased based upon what place the racer is in. This will continue through the end of the 8.50 Index Points Series. On the last points day, if a racer is in seventh place and earns enough points on that day to move him/her into a tie for third place, the racer with the lower rating points will finish the year in third place and the higher rating points racer will be fourth. The only way a runoff will be necessary is if the earned points, number of wins, and rating points are the same. If after the tiebreaker, a result for a position has not been determined, a one-run run-off will occur. NOTE: Top 8 points earners after October 24 will receive an embroidered Jacket courtesy of Raceway Park.

NEXT RACE THIS FRIDAY------BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Keith. Great to see our American Racing Headers Pro 8 Shootout racers have another place to race at our home track and with a better chance at a payout.

8.50 Index Sponsor Update

A few new sponsors have been added to our 8.50 Index Series since Keith’s last post.

We’d like to welcome Christy & Kasper Racing as our #1 Qualifier Bonus sponsor. $50 and a plaque will be awarded to the #1 qualifier if he/she wins the race. If the #1 qualifier does not win the race, the money will be carried over to the next race. If the #1 qualifier does not win a race for the remainder of the season, the entire bonus will be included in the end of season payout.

Serious Toys is the proud Best Appearing Crew sponsor. The lucky winning crew will receive $50 and a plaque for looking their best! Serious Toys will also present the 8.50 Index winner with a tee shirt.

Sherwin Williams has announced they will present the Best Appearing Car with product valued at $60 and a plaque to the most beautiful car in the series.

On behalf of Raceway Park and our racers, thanks to all of you for your support of our 8.50 Index Series.
