Default launch tips

I have never drag raced a car but intend to take my 78 to the track soon. I have 425hp with a 200r4 and a 3000 stall. What is the correct procedure for a good launch. Leaving off foot break on street tires.

I would just hold it at 1000 rpm release the break and stomp on it.. if it spins uncontrollably ease off the gas... like NOW don't try to make the run if its spinning.. I've seen too many nice Vettes hit the wall in the first 100' because the driver didn't have enough sense or knowledge to LET OFF THE GAS if its spinning..

Then next run if it did spin just leave at an idle and Squezzzzz the gas until its hooked up...

It all depends on how well the track is prepped.. On a well prepped track, I'd footbrake to the highest RPM possible (that the brakes will hold)
On a bad track, just launch at about 1500 RPM..
You also have to make sure to run the proper tire pressure. On street tire, run about 20 psi or so with 15 inch wheels or 25 psi with 17+ inch rims..

Stage, push transbrake button, foot to floor, top bulb goes yellow, release transbrake.....hang on !!!!!

without setting the delay, that would be a red light unless you are on a pro tree...

Thanks for the advise and Thank You Chris for coming to my defense, but don't worry because I have a cute little red head that I could get to do it for me and by coencidence she is from the formor Soviet Union (Ukraine) where they have per capita more beautiful women than any where in the world. It's a natural selection thing. IE. WW-2 & Stalin killed more than half the male pop. so only the most beautiful women could get husbands. Beautiful women have beautiful babies. Get the picture.
