you just blew out some carbon, and now your oil temp is at a better temp

I have noticed that my first time shot is slower then my 2nd time shot, even when the weatehr will be worse. For example, My first time shot I would run 11.44, Then on my 2nd time shot I will run 11.43. My TAG weather station will predict a 11.459 for my 2nd time shot.

I think of the 1st pass as a clean out pass. I also think my commute to the track has something to do with it. It takes me 10 minutes to drive to the track, I am sure all the fluids are not warmed up yet.

After my 2nd pass, The Vette is consistent. I almost have it down to a science if for some reason we only get one time shot.

Hope this will help you.

I remember last year at one of the last Carolina Corvette Challenges at Darlington SC, we all qualified on the quarter mile and then when it came time for eliminations the quarter mile clocks would not work so we had to switch to eighth mile. We made one qualifying run on the 1/8 and went right back into the lanes for first round. I picked up .05 and 1/2 mph in the eighth between the two passes. My car seems to run best with the water temp above 180 degrees.

It was not carbon build up for me as these were the forth and fifth passes of the day.

My LT1 is the exact oppisit... it runs best when its under 160 deg... if it goes over 180 it will slow down almost a tenth...I have a chart, & 2 data bases in my TAG..

One data for running cool, and another data base for HOT runs.. and its pretty close..

I could see the aluminum block motors liking a little more water temp for sure because it disspates heat into the coolant so quickly. that lost heat is lost HP. On the other hand we try to go to the lanes with our iron blocked stocker at less than 100degrees water temp, but the oil is warm

True dat
I hot lap and I will lose up to .20 in the 1/4.
I launch at 130 to 140 after cool down .My lt1 is the same way but I put 2 trans coolers on the 4l60e on the lt1 and it doesnt lose anything in the 1/4 that I have noticed like before the install.

My LS1 did and LS2 does the same. That is unless it is the third consecutive then it might tend to slow and the fourth hot lap will usually be slower.

It has a sweet spot.

My C5Z would run faster on the 3rd or 4th hot lap then the 1st or 2nd.

My C6Z can't run fast hot PERIOD!!!
