I'm looking for a weight loss program for my 98. Beyond the normal rims and tires, what else can be removed or replaced to reduce weight and keep it streetable as well?

Carbon fiber hood, lose the power seats, non pop up headlights, lexan hatch, smaller front brakes. I'm sure theres other little stuff.

.....along with a lightweight battery, lighter brakes (rotating mass savings too just like lighter wheels/tires are), pull the airbags etc.

Keeping it "streetable" does limit things.

Keeping it streetable is relative depending on how much comfort you are willing to give up on the street. For example, you might want to remove all the carpet and padding and replace with thinner carpet but then he car will sound louder inside. You can remove the stereo and speakers (you'd be surprised what that 12 disc changer weighs) but then you will have no tunes. I can go on.

I presume you have looked at this list?

Salvage vechicle, previous owner made the airbag removal quite simple.

Edgar, thanks for the link, I had not seen that one.

How much weight can be saved in a Vette by going to a lightweight carpet and no padding? Louder inside is a good thing, isn't it?

Replacing the OEM carpeting was one of items mentioned in a recent National Dragster article on reducing weight especially for the Stock class.
