Default Drag Radials ???

I was deciding between 2 different combinations:

Mikey Thompson ET Streets

275/40/17 mounted on 17x9.5" Z06 wheels
or
305/35/18 mounted on 18x10.5" Z06 wheels

Thanks,
John

for the street or track? track usage, always fit the smallest diameter wheel you can. street, whatever floats your boat. there are guys running 8s and 9s on 275s.

A lot depends on you power output. I would go with 275/40's if you not to high in the HP range and 305/35's if you got big power.

the 40's will help with launch as there is more flex in the sidewalls.

I will be using them mostly for street but sometimes track. I currently have 605 rwhp. I'm running Toyo street tires now and I'm all over the road.

I run 295/45/17s with 685 rwhp/715rwtq and they don't hold second and struggle to hold third (but they do for the most part). 4th is no issue. 305/18s would be way worse.

There are cars in the 7's on a 275 drag radial. I've owned a car with 325s even. I wouldn't do it again. It's a waste of power to turn that much tire when a smaller one grips on much faster cars than mine.

I'm all the road too...have a set of PS2's with low mileage...I like the Nitto NT555R but was wondering if I should go with the 305 45R or 35R in an 18" rim.

Yeah bro when I saw your tires yesterday I was thinking Im currently running Nitto DR 305/35/18 and picking up 17" Speedlines this Saturday from a forum member for some nice MT's.

BTW, you were right about the outcome with that new Z06.

More tire mo better, I have the Nitto 555R2 in 305 on my stock 18" rear wheels. See my sig, they fit the wheel well very nice!

I think the 17" fronts look funny on the rear, no lip and the offset aint right. I haven't tried the ET street DR, but I bet they're nice and I would get the 305/35/18 for sure!

And again welcome to the Forced Induction Community.
When I left yesterday and drove past D & D I was spinning bad thats why I started this thread. I don't want to end up in a light pole one of these days.
See you around.

Better way to go, you will get more sidewall flex to hook-up!

Plenty of meat on the ground too! It is what I have but have yet to go to the track and run them

I'm hoping they will aid in my goal of a mid to low 10 second pass

Thanks,Matt

God I hope they are not like the Blems i got , holy Horse$hit.. tires were horrible on the street 0 handling. car felt like a school bus..oh and traction was no better than the nittos..

(305 /18 Mt drag raidals ) at 70 mph the back wanted to jump to the front. after 20 miles of driving , took them off and put a set of nitto 555r drag radials ..they hold very well for me on the street and handling is awesome.

True, but not on a 275-40-17 drag radial of course.
But yes, there are some seriously fast cars running on the 275-50-15s and 275-60-15s.

Oh I agree. My point was that the width will only eat up HP. It's a waste.
