Thanks Joe.Your car is flying.Which make are the drag radials and front tires.I'm surprized you don't have any handling problems mixing radials with bias ply.How does the car handle on the top end?
Take care.

The problem is when you use you stock radials up front with bias ply in the rear.

Bias ply in the front and drag radial in the back is fine.
I have bias ply Moroso DS2 in the front with MT ET Street drag radial 315 x 16 in the rear. While I have not been in the nines, it is just a winter mod away

I just bought a pair of 305/35/18 MT ET Street Radials.

I thought they were not bias ply ???

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

John those are radial ties so you are good with radiel fronts or bias ply front.

You are good

I think you have the older ones so they're likely the Firestone bias plies, I think those are actually a reproduction version (Coker Tire?) of an old dirt track tire or something but CCW was selling Drag Packs with those for years up until the more recent release of 16", 17" and even 18" skinny radials that have hit the market.

CCW - Drag Pack for a C5 - Running the Firestone "skinny" on the front and recently moved from the MT ET Street (28 X 16 X 12.5 which is no longer availeable) to the Hoosier Slick 28 X 16 X 12 which is also a 10" tread. 12.9 to 13.5 lbs hot depending on the track. Running tubes and screws.

Best 60' is a 1.32 off the foot brake launching at 1,000 RPM with my 4L60E, trapping at about 148MPH. Rear End is Rodneys' C6 Z06 3.42. This past weekend ran the IMSM "Heads Up" series with 1.39x 60's on all 4runs.

Note: John at CCW says the front skinny is made by Mickey Thompson Tire NOT Coker!!!

Well, yeah, NOW they are. And did John also mention M&H? Because they use them as well in case you weren't informed of that.

But 1) the older front skinnies WERE IN FACT marked as Firestones as I'd stated above and 2) I'd only mentioned Coker Tire (with a question mark "?" by the way) because they are well known for their older/odd sized vintage tires and from what I understood those Firestone skinnies that I've referred to are an older/odd sized vintage tire.

LS1LT1 - I have been replacing my CCW skinnies every 2 years since they came out. In 2007 before replacing them I talked with John at CCW to make sure they were ok for my Drag Racing activities (I have been running well into the 140's for over 2 years). He at that time gave me the info. about MT making them. They still say Firestone Delux Champions as they always have. I am not aware of any other company making 16" skinnies for our Corvettes. Clue me in as I will be replacing my skinnies next year. Thanks

True, in 16" there are very few. Here's one but it's 27" tall instead of 26":

Most have gone to the 17" and 18" skinnies lately where there are a few more tire options.
