C5: traction problems
Sorry to those who do know their stuff, but still, where are you?
From what your saying I'm guessing its in the switch...because you say it "DOES WORK" but only when you hit the button 2 times quick..
Just a suggestion... if its like my car.. press & HOLD the button for 5-8 sec until you hear the beep.. it should sat Competition Mode... Try running it that way.. but to solve your problem, maybe one of the shops can hook up a diagnostic tester to your car, ans actually SEE if the TC is ON or OFF when you hit the button 1 time....
As I said I'm still trying to get my car to run "Consistent" I love it but its a PIA to have it run the same # two times in a row (within .02) like my 96 did....
PS Do you have "Line Lock"

No, I wanna get a line lock soon. I guess I'll hit the track and test out comp mode and see how the car feels. Can they do a diagnostic test even with no codes showing? I ran my scanner on it and it looks fine. Car still has warranty but I dont know if I trust dealer with my tc.
As far as trusting your dealer, if not him then who.. a speed shop.. I bought my 96 NEW, and would give the service Mgr a $20 bill every time a went there, and a bottle of Chevis Regal Scotch at Christmas..
I always got The BEST treatment you could ask for.. one time there was a recall about an oil leak coming from the rear of the intake manifold... They called me in , as I had only 2 months to go on my warrenty... it was put on a lift, but it was DRY.. He said Hmmmmm it feels damp.. maybe we should put new intake gaskets on to be safe...
I cant even start to mention what they have done for me, including replacing the stock 1.5 rockers with LT4 (1.6) Rockers for FREE....
My rear broke (Spider gears) the rear was replaced with 3.73s under warrenty.... those are only a few things I've been helped with..
Bottom line after you buy the car kiss the salesman good buy.. and make GOOD friends with the service Mgr. I ALWAYS HAVE.. and its paid off in Spades!!!!!
