..... about 17-20 years ago, I recall hearing of an innovation program employed at a Southern track to raise money, similar to a typical '50/50'-drawing, except it had a unique twist.
They'd sell $1 tickets during time-shots, and during the break before Eliminations, they'd pull a single ticket from the hat, but the winner didn't win any money:
whoever had the drawn ticket was elligible to WIN the pot if they could run, or choose a driver to run, on a dial-in, and it didn't have to be 'dead-on with an oh', either.
For-example, if Fred's ticket was drawn, but Fred wasn't a racer, and instead was a crew-member or spectator, he could 'make-a-deal' with any driver of his-choosing, usually a friend with a consistent/predictable car:
the racer would place a 2-digit dial-in on the window, and if he ran the number, he & Fred would split the winnings however they had previously decided, and if he didn't run the number, the Track deposited the total amount into a designated account, and the money rolled-over until the next week.
At first, many racers didn't like the idea, but after several weeks of nobody winning the purse, it had grown to a few thousand dollars, and soon, racers were buying $5, $10, and $20 worth of tickets each week:
when it was finally hit, the Track and winning contestant each walked-away with over $16,000, and the program started again.
Never heard of anything like that before or since, but always thought that wsa pretty-cool.
WINNER right here, baby! FIVE in a row!
The -.041 red was a win as the other guy went red first..
Nice try El...lol...too bad there are no dial in's on the slips...
Nice promotion but I have never heard of anyone ever going five in a row for either...two, maybe three but never five...they should make it the ring and $50 million since no one will ever win it...lol...
plus I am pretty sure they have to be with a zero as well.
that is like saying .009 is perfect light.
Steve, after I stopped laughing and picked myself up from the floor cause I was actually ROTLLMAO, cause you said you would win..................................... ...............opps, there I go laughing again................................... ...damn, sorry, I cannot answer this comment of yours with a straight face.................................... ..........
I just read it.... as I understand it you must have a .000 light "OR" run your # with a xx0 i.e. 12.55 you have to run 12.550 that would count a 1 point..
I know I've only had 3 .000 lights in my life.... and run my # with a xx0 maybe 3 or 4 times also... to do that 5 times in 1 year would be one "Helluva" accomplishment!
Can anyone here remember how many times in 2008 you had a .000 light or ran your # with a "0" It ain't easy and to do it 5 times in a 10 race series... WOW... it sure would be tough...
Your correct I misunderstood it... I think I have it correct in the above post... you must have a total of 5 points for the "Season" to earn a point you need a .000 reaction time "OR" run your # with a xx0 which would count as 1 point..
Take our 10 race series for 2008 how many people had .000 lights (I'm guessing 3 or 4) and how many people ran their # with a 0 .... ??
Also I don't know if it counts if you have a .000 light but lose the race does it still count as 1 point ?
In our reaction time its best winning RT.. so if someone had a .000 RT and lost the race (breakout) or his car didn't run the # it don't count...
I'm going to go back and "re-read" the rules and see if you MUST WIN the round for it to count...
And I can walk on water if I don't miss the rocks!
No kiddin'...lol...the odds on this one happening are high...
Some the all electronic diggers might get 2 or 3 perfect runs in a season and 1 or 2 perfect lights...
OK, I just read the rules and it is a bit easier than I thought..you can combine either one to reach five...which is to say you can have two perfect lights and three dead on's...each one earns you a "diamond point"...get to five and you win...still tough to do but with full electronics it can be done....there has been a winner the last 4 years of this deal...
I would bet the majority of the points come from being dead on...
