Default The Warm-up....does it work?

Never too early to start thinking about 2010.

Over the years it seems the warmup has lost popularity.

A suggestion was made that we offer a warmup for our pro classes next year. I really don't like the warmup conflicting with the Top 16, I don't think anyone does but we cannot help that with rainouts. Hopefully we can get our '09 Top 16 in our '09 season.

Anyway, looking at the numbers over the last four years it looks like this

2006 - 54
2007 - 56
2008 - 36
2009 - 37 ish and this includes the Top 16 being allowed to run for free.

What are your thoughts?

I think it is great. It gets those who haven't gotten to the track earlier a chance to get a little practice on the tree. More seat time is always better. Could we see a warm up for the pro classes as well as the brackets on the same day. Might be busy, but maybe Raceway park could go for it??
Alot of guys only race the car in the CC, and nowhere else.
Edgar,
Thanks again for all you do for the series.

I agree with Shawn (Surprise).
I think the warm up has helped many people that travel from far away to get some seat time. Those that are from the far north (near Canada) don't have the track in there back yard to play. Think about having the first event with many drivers not having any seat time before this day. I think we should keep it and also ask why some people did not come out and play. Maybe there is a reason and we can make some changes to increase the car count.

Just my 2 cents, hold on. I gave my last 2 cents to Chris. Just my pennyless thoughts.

With that small a car count I would run all classes.

I like the warmup! I hate having the top16 on opening day but what can you do...

It's unfortunate but I think we have to expect that car count overall will be down this year.

Maybe next year we could spice up the warmup by making it a Corvette vs Late Model Mopar Muscle shootout or something.

I would hate to see the warm-up go away. It's an EXCELLENT way of getting competition seat time.

One can do time shots all they want, but it's a different feel during a competition.

The warm-up was great for me this year. RED light and no loss in points!

I like the warmup. It gives me a chance to shake the car down and get the cobwebs out of my brain. It's a great idea I think you should keep it.

I like the warmup. I don't think I'd care if RP combined it with another series if it means helping make the payout. Going up against another group might actually bring a few more Vettes.

And yes, it works. I found out I was able to deep stage all day with the autostart even when I wasn't first to the tree. Helped me a lot.

Thanks for putting all the effort into it either way.

I think the warmups are Great.... And like Eric said I think it would be real cool to make it a Corvette vs Late Model Mopar Muscle shootout....
There isnt anything better than seat time after the LONG WINTER that doesnt count towards your yearly points....

And again Thanks Edgar and all involve to make this series happen.

I think the warmup race is an excellent opportunity for all of our racers to shake down their cars and get some seat time for the upcoming points races.

The warm up was a great opportunity to find out that I had a problem that I hope to get fixed before the first official event. I would have preferred a pro tree for anyone attending who typically runs in a pro class and I saw that they did run it for some of the drivers (I must have missed when / where to request it). But, the event was a great way to get the car out and shake it down (more like “break it down”), get some seat time and say hi to a few people that I haven’t seen in months

Joe that is good to here. The Corvette Challenge tree settings are the same as last year and there is a fair amount of time to get it.

Dave if you are running test and tune you can request any tree. You need to let the staging lane director know that you want a pro tree so that they can put you in a seperate lane and advise the the tower and starter that you wan the pro tree.

You won't get it in a Corvette Challenge eliminator race though.

... Good to know, thanks. I learn something new every day

Regardless, I think the warm up is a great idea for a number of reasons. Sorry the turn out was not as high as expected. But, I was there.
