Mini Race Report....

I bought a new balancer from Summit and it won't work either because now the crank has been damaged...I am now planning on putting in a fresh 396 next week...got a real good deal this motor and all my new parts will bolt right on...this is a motor that went 11's regularly...fingers crossed...
Anyway, I got the "woolies" to go racing so I met my buddies last night at the Summit event...yes, I tried the Yukon again...my time shots were OK...11.15. 11.10, 11.09...my RT's came around and I had an .020 when I came up to 1500 on the converter and went in deep....
Red69 was there with his 79 vette and Webair with his C5...the day was nice but hot...it was 90 at 5PM with about 60% humidity...never got much better since as the temps dropped, the humidity shot up...oh well...
First round I get some kind of small Jaguar sedan..he is dialed 11.68...I dial 11.06 since it is a bit cooler...he takes off and then I leave chasing...I catch him before the traps and tap the brakes...I break out running 11.056 but he is worse running 11.61...I had an .025 light to his .068...on to round two...
Red and Web both won as well...second round I get a friend in a C5..she is a good racer but I have her number...she is dialed 8.33 and I dial down to 11.04...I stage and get up to 1400 on the converter...I bump in and knock out the tops...she goes in and...............then........it........ happens....the proverbial death march!...oh no!!!!....my truck begins to creep a tiny bit at a time by it's ownself...the starter must have thought I was nuts because I was hollering at my car..No..No...not now...don't do this to me...hang on!...
Well, it did not and when the tree dropped my car creeped through the beam way early...I never hit the go pedal, it just would not hold...had a .136 red eye..I then ran it out for smiles and went 11.06...she went 8.37 so I may have had a chance...I thought about dropping the rpm at the time to halt the creepage but knew that would screw up my timing and my R/T...
Red and Web also went out with red eye's but at least they got to craft their own...lol...
I can't wait till next month when I will hopefully be racing with my new 396 heads/cam motor...woot!....

BTW, my opponent had a very good light...I think she took a free shot at it since she saw my red...she had a .005....with any luck this is the last time I have to race the Yukon...it is real hard to stage...the brake pedal is like an on/off switch and the go pedal is so soft it is hard to hold in one spot...at least I had a little fun...
