Super Bee
Thanks, Nick
I never became argumentive or abusive.. the reason I said that was there are so many options.. such is the car stick or automatic, are they both bone stock... what experience does each driver have.. those things can make a difference...
You original question was so general with no info, how could anyone give an educated guess..
Will a Honda beat a Toyota ?
I probably have more time on the track than he has behind the wheel.. If you count the days when I was racing my D/A 8 sec Camaro...
I honestly don't think he gave enough info...but its not my problem, I'm sure he will get plenty of replies and advice.. But he ain't gonna get any of your or my years of REAL RACING experience...
Let him be like Smith Barney (the Stock Co.) he will earn it the hard way as far as I'm concerned!
Web... just for Barracks knowledge... I was in NHRA Division 1 finals 3 yrs ago, finished in the Top 6 in the Corvette Challenge for 8 years in a row...
Raced D/A NHRA for 6 years.... and he is asking how to change rockers from 1.5 to 1.6
I'm not making fun of you Barrack, I'm just pointing out I "MIGHT" have a little more knowledge and experience than you on a race track!
I think Web Air, & many other forum members can verify that point... I'm sorry I offended you, and good luck with your 95 .. I'm sure you will get it to run in the 12's real soon....
BTW here is a photo of my 96 that ran 12.28 @ 110 mph !

Nick, I was going to dump on you big time for your remarks to JP. Your age explains your initial post. I spend time on the f-body and mustang sites which both have a lot of young guys and gals. Lots of post there asking the simular questions .... I have this and want to race that...what do you think? When you asked the question you didn't put any details of exactly your have and exactly what the Super Bee has. Transmission types, tires, drivers ability, mods, and so forth, and have huge impacts to how a car peforms on the track. Most of the people on this site are a bit older and wiser (we can hope) and to them it's a no brainer. Experience here tell us that a 350hp car is totally outclassed by a 425hp one. To you it is a ligitement question because in all honesty I believe you really don't know. It's really cool that you have a vette at your age. I'm a tad older and don't have one. I also want to say go race the Super Bee but only on the track. Tell the guy you know your slower but would like to go the the track and make a grudge run. JP and Web have tons of experience and a willingness to help anyone. I wish that I was 16, had a vette, and was able to ask for car help on this forum. Shooot just wish I had a vette.
JP and Web, any chance to give this kid a break.
We were all 16 once. I have a '65 Skylark GS (401 with a glide) how will I do against a '70 Challanger with a Hemi??? Cost me $40 bucks (almost 2 weeks pay when I was 16) to find out. Wish we had the internet back in the day.

"Ken" you hit the nail on the head! nothing more to be said! You know me & I would help in a hearbeat....At my age they don't call me "Mr. Softy" for nothing

But I am turning 16 in 28 days and I can't wait lol.
I think it was WebAir that said that my parents should have tought me manners, well my mother left when I was about 1 year old, and my dad is hardly ever home for reasons I don't know. But I am fortunate that I have a uncle that looks out for me (helped me with my first car).
Well I am sorry to everyone, WebAir, kazman. K Ripper, and especially JPee. I kinda got a little aggrevated about not getting taken seriously. But I hope that we can put this behind us and start over. I have a lot to learn, and hopefully a long time to learn it in. I'm all ears for any advise, and help.
I hope all of you except my apology.

Don't be afraid to post a question, and now that we know where you stand, (just learning) just like me, Web, Kaz & Ripper did .. you should get all the help you need ...Good luck with your 95... & after you take it to the drag strip and get some # to work with such as ET & MPH and your 60' times, you will get a lot of good advice on how to get it running quicker...
I got my 96 LT1 to run 12.2 @ 110 mph & never had the heads off EVER! It still had the stock throttle body, and stock exhaust manifolds!
Sounds like you had a rough road to follow and I am sorry for your loss. Thank God for your uncle. I see you're impressed with the performance Jpee got out of that C4. I am equally impressed that a young man like yourself could purchase a C4. How did you do it?
BTW, you can delete that post if you wish. Most of us could do a delete and it would be like it never happened. I'll delete mine now.
Done!

I tried to delete it but it said something about an invalid link. What should I do about that?
JP please teach me the ways of the force lol. I would defently like to know how to put my car in the low 12s lol
shoot high 12s would be awesome hahaha.
About getting into the mid to low 12's 1st is your car Automatic or stick... It matters a LOT! mine was an automatic, and ET is all about how well you "Hook Up" and your 60' time...thats what will get you a good ET...
As for MPH you need HorsePower.. bottom line if you ran 13.10 @ 106mph with your car now & its an automatic, I can help you get to the mid 12s no problem with not to much $$ being spent.. however to gain more MPH you need more HP
Remember
ET all you need is a good chassis set up, good converter, & correct gearing...
BUT after doing all of that you ET will go down to the 12's but your MPH will not go up because you are NOT making more HP
More HP = more MPH or speed! to get more HP you have to do motor work i.e. cam, heads, 1.6 RR headers, etc..
But to get better ET if you are Automatic, go to a 3200 converter, 3.73 rear, Drag Radials, lightweight (skinny) fronts tires, remove the front sway bar (that will permit the front end to lift & transfer weight to the rear tired giving you more traction, with out adding weight...
I made my car a light as I could... here are some easy examples..
By going to a Vigilante 8" converter I saved 25 lb. Light weight wheels another 50+ lb (I used Weld Pro Star) I also removed the mufflers 30 lb and used muffler eliminators.. its NOT too loud...
Also you have a knock sensor for an LT1 change it and get one from an LT4.. the knock sensor will retard timing, and the LT4 sensor is less sensitive and won't retard your timing as much as the LT1 sensor!
Run a 160 thermostat, and try to have the engine temp at 160 at the line... I never let my car run in the staging lanes.. wait until there is 5-8 car space then start it hit the gas & SHUT IT OFF ASAP..
I also installed a switch to run my fan with the engine OFF (a big help) if you can afford to get an electric water pump.. then you can run the water pump & fan with the motor off.. I could get my car from 200 to 150 deg in 10 min on a HOT day! Remember LT1 motors like to run about 160 - 170 for best drag racing...
Think about a line lock ... it will make burn outs easy, ans save wear on your breaks and drive train....
If you can fine a program that will raise the line pressure in your trans (if you are Automatic) it will make it shift faster & harder...
Use your brain and get as much weight out of that car as you can..
Now if you are a manual a lot of what I said won't apply but you still have to cool it off, go with the 1.6 RR and springs from an LT4 or good aftermarket... I never put on headers, but they cant hurt... I also would run with 1/4 to 1/3 tank of gas to keep it light...
I think this should keep you busy for awile... let us know if its a stick or Automatic.. if a stick you can go to 4.10 rear..
I'm going to order the knock module, 3.73, and drag radials/wheels and 8" torque converter when I get the extra money deffently.
Who sells a LT4 knock module?
Will I need to get another tune?
Do I need to install any of the new parts in any specifc order? Like the knock module before the drag radials?

You can get the knock sensor from a Chevy dealer only (if they still make them) it is just a plug in.. just unplug the one you have and replace it with the one from an LT4.. & no retuning is needed.. you may have a problem finding a dealer that has one as they only made the LT4 in 1996..
No no need to make it shift harder..it is fine for what you want to do..
