Does Atco still require mufflers?

More importantly they bought back qualifing for everyone. That was BS last year how qualifing was done for the round 1 winners. Pairing up for round 1 was a joke watching cars laying back waiting, getting out of line, crew members blocking cars so their guy can line up with a duck. If you didn't know who was who, you never had a chance for a 2nd round.

I justice the bonus points for loser in the later rounds and extra for the event winner. Interesting.

You going to run some/all this year Jay?

They really did that? Damn.
I do love Atco for test and tune/time shots and track rentals but when it comes to actual series type competition I think I'll stick with E-town and the very well run Corvette Challenge events.

yeah that change to no qualifying was not met well with racers and there seems to be no reason for it at all as car counts were dwindling anyway. Our four tracks, counting Cecil, have to find a way to work together, we are competing for the same racers.

Thanks Marc. We try real hard to keep good.

I have seen that done at several tracks and several classes. I can tell ya that if you complain to Joe Sway he will take action. To be honest if I have the opportunity to go against a duck in any round I'm going take the run.

Just got confirmation from Dave at Finishline that Cecil will also now allow deep staging in 8.50 index (they did in 10 and 12 already).

This is the variety where they will not foul you for doing and they also will NOT wait for you which is the fairest was of all to handle it. Atco did not even allow it in 10 and 12 indexes so this is good. Too many folks fouled for staging less than shallow.

Now looks like only e'town fouls you in 10.0 and 8.50 for doing it.

qualifying was a joke in the first half of the year . but to be fair to atco , they did mixed it up and pull lines of cars not pairs, then pairs . then they put pro ladder in the 2nd half of the season. i went when i wanted to. but you 8.50 racers would know best.....
and Jay your last sentence makes me feel like you duck hunt

Don't think the 8.50 will need the deep staging, don't think anyone will go deep in the 8.50.

The 12.00 you need to go deep to cut a good light. Most of the guys running 12.00 at ATCO are high 10 and 11 second full race cars with trans brakes. When you see a car in the 12.00 index leave the line off the trans brake at 2,500 rpm's and run 12.01 at 82 mph - PLEASE, Come on. Is that a sand bagger?
A street car cannot cut a light without going deep on a pro tree running 12.00. But I guess you can with a trans brake. I think you will see more street cars running this class. If deep staging is allowed, I will more then likely be there trying it. On that note, if the person I am racing is aware that I will stage deep and try to double bulb me, I will wait for the starter to tell me when to stage. I Will burn the tree down. I think the payout's are much higher at ATCO then RP.

Yes a real 12.0 car with a transbrake can shallow stage off a pro .500 and cut a good light. Formula leaves at 4000 rpm off the button.
