Default Rules Question....

Something interesting happened at Sunday's Summit Super Series event...

The No-Box class got down to 3 cars...rain was imminent all day and it begun to sprinkle...the first semi pair went down the track and there was a winner...it so happened the loser crashed his car after the stripe...FWIW, it was a 72 Challenger running 6.60's....

It turns out this was the last pair to make a run...the track called the event after that due to rain...the bye run never took place....here is my question:

Do you award a final spot to the winner of the semi run that took place along with the bye run guy and give them final points as well as split the final and runner up money.....or...

Do you add the winner, runner up and semi money and divide it equally between the three semifinalists along with equal points to all three?

I know what my answer is but I am curious what y'all think....

my thought is your bye run guy gets credit for going to the final and you split winner and runnerup money for the two finalists.

Most of the time the bye run guy is allowed to sit out the semi. Usually the bye run needs to clear with the semi finalists first but don't think i have ever seen anyone say no to the request, after all, he only would need to take the tree.

3 way split. The semi final round was never fully completed so it reverts back to the last completed round. The way bye rounds are handled differ betweet tracks. At Raceway Park, if the other racers agree you don't have to stage. At Maple and Island you must stage and break the beam but can then back up and exit by the starting line. You have to let the staff know you intent prior to backing up.

Kaz, as usual you are all over it...the requirement is to break the beam so it reverts back to the previously completed round...in this case, driver agreements would not count since the track was officially closed prior to that agreement taking effect...

Down this way you must stage and break the beam...more than a few racers have been caught out by this rule when they could not get to the line for their bye...can you imagine how a racer who lost in the semi's would feel if he found out the bye run was really broken and used the old "you don't mind if I don't break the beam on my semi bye run do you?"...in these parts a "butt whuppin" might follow shortly...lol...

I can hear the excuse already....but...but, I didn't break until after we made the agreement.....okey dokey...

In addition to the $$$ it's having points and "bonus" points taken away that really gets the racers fired up.
