Default Summit Series tonight...

I raced in the SS tonight at Orlando Speedworld....it was hot as blazes...temp 93* and humidity in the mid 80's....track temp was 130* at 5 PM...sheesh....

I am sorting out my new set up...today I ran a new set of Hoosier slicks...a little harder compound, the C07...I ran them at 14 lbs. but need to drop to 13 next week...my short times were up...

I had a 1.60, 1.60, 1.60, 1.61 and 1.62....those are about 3 to 5 hundreths higher than with the MT's...of course these reflected higher ET's as well...

My two time shots were 7.39 and 7.40...in round one I caught a guy dialed 6.80...I dialed 7.40....I treed him by .07 and gave her three good whomps at the finish line...I scrubbed over 2 mph off but still broke out running 7.38...ugh....

I bought back in and dialed 7.36 in round two...I ran a guy dialed 9.40...I treed him by .06 and ran 7.37 with a 1...winnah....

In round three I catch the same guy I broke out against in round 1...I leave the 7.36 dial on and he dials 6.80 again...I am off and he chases me...we hit the stripe together...I run dead on with a 5 but he runs dead on with a 1...he treed me some but he just beat me fair and square...I am on the trailer early...oh well....

All in all a decent night..the new tires hit differently so I need to find the right pressure to give me my normal lights...these .040 deals are not acceptable...the car ran nicely in a 3000+ DA evening...apparently spring lasted 48 hours and summer is here...90 every day now...sigh....

Got to love the level your racing at when a .040 light isn't good.

I can identify with Dan's program. I was .033 on the tree and went dead on with a 4 to lose. My opponents MOV was .0003.

*cough* RADIALS *cough*

and on the reaction times, you should look through the stock and ss eliminations on drag race central one day. there were three .000 lights in one round of stock (4th round) and thats off the footbrake

I hear ya Chad...at this event I had a brand new set of Hoosier stiff sidewall bias plys...the CO7 compound...the track was real hot and real slick...I will be interested what happens at the other Orlando track next Sunday...we'll see....my short times dropped considerably when I went from a 30" tire to a 28" tire...

Dan, did your RT's increase with the improved short times?

No...they got quicker...I was running a 30x9x15 Hoosier drag radial slick...I went to a 28x10.5x15 MT stiff sidewall slick...my short times and r/t's got better with the shorter tire...now they have gone up with the same size Hoosier stiff sidewall slick...I am not so sure this is not due to a hot slick track, however....we'll see this coming weekend since I am running two events at two different tracks on saturday and sunday...
