Congratulations Georgia! It was very hot at the track last night, but not as hot as she was on the track. I especially want to say thank you Geargia and Talmadge for letting me use the corvette last night. I also want to thank Joe G. for the book. I didn't do too good last night, but I had a lot more fun getting with all my friends. Until the next Corvette challenge....Rick
I was just thinking about posting this article. Thanks Rick.
I had already posted in another thread that Georgia is such a joy to be around. She's always smiling and always makes time for conversation. I have also watched her when she wasn't aware. I observed her many times perusing her time slips and I could see the wheels turning. She absolutely has her serious side and if you line up with her you'll know you have a race.
I also want to mention Talmage. For whatever reason he doesn't race anymore but he's always there supporting Georgia. And I might add he supports the rest of us be it in the Challenge or SSS. I thank him for the support he gives to all of us.
I have one funny story to tell. SSS was 1/8 and the Challenge was 1/4. They didn't give us any break and after no box we went straight to the lanes. I see Georgia lined up with Rick. She dialed 11.44 and he dialed 8.49 in the 1/4 mile Challenge. Guess who forgot to change their dial?
Congrats to the winner and runner up
I saw that on the 1320go link. I wondered what happened...
Talmage usually stands right below the tower. He noticed Rick's dial was wrong and even though that gave Georgia one heck of an advantage he tried to stop them by notifying the starter but it was too late. When I say he supports all of us he truly does and he didn't want Rick to lose because of a mistake.
Rick was laughing about it along with the rest of us. I wish I had taken my video down with me. It was really funny to see.
The funniest thing about that is I ran a 8.49 but I guarantee you next time it won't happen again. Too many things happening at once. I will probably never hear the end of it....
Not to worry Rick...you are far from the first to do that...one day at BMP we ran the Challenge and the Summit Series at the same time due to a rain shower...one was 1/4 and one was 1/8th...
One racer got his dials mixed up like you did...two others, Larry Buetlich and Craig Gingrich, both experienced racers, completely lifted off the gas at the 1/8 mile pole...too bad they were running in the challenge at 1/4 mile...
Congrats to Georgia for another win!...a buddy of mine ran no box there yesterday...you may know him...Rob Reynolds and he runs a purple 79 Malibu...dials about 6.20 in the 1/8th...he said the track went away awful and his car hooks in a car wash...just too hot I guess...

I know Rob, he is the one who built your engine I was talking to him yesterday. Good guy. After my eighth mile run I was busy talking to people at the track totally forgot to put my dial on did not realize it until I stage the car at that point too late. I knew I was done at that point. It was really funny when I got my time slip me and the time slip guy had a good laugh about it I guess everybody else had a good laugh too.

Thank you so much Rick! Thank you for the compliment, what a day!!! What a unique race we had. My rt. speaks for itself I was confused why my light was coming down first knowing I had the faster car I only looked at my side to make sure they had my dial in correct. By the time we got back running the 8th mile they were already moving the cars forward for the quarter mi. as I was putting a 1/4 mi dial on the back window. I just thank God for the gift!!

Thank you very much Bob. It was great that you were able to come and compete with us thats a bit of a drive, Joe has the same coming from the south end. I am so blessed to get to do this I thank God and my crewchief and sponser Talmage. The competition is such a high level I'm in awe when I get to the winner circle. Yes that run was gift
What a good Story, and congrats to Georgia & Joe G. too!
btw, I put my ride up on a lift yesterday morning before the race to check it over. LOF, 1-header gasket, etc. and found the front BMR Torque Arm mount ("Clamshell") pulling away from the tranny....Again!
Didn't make the race, but got a chance to check-in by phone with a call from Joe"G" & Dino before the Challenge race start over there at PBIR.
We miss you all and will C'ya soon
Georgia, I very seldom make it to the finals, but this is the 2nd time this year I've met you there!
While neither of us had a reaction time to be proud of, yours were better than mine, and when you run your dial + .008 that is a hard package to beat! I grabbed the stripe from you by .02 but I had to break out to do it. Great racing on your part...very impressive that you were running a new car that is two seconds faster than you are used to and you put it down the track so consistently each time. At that car's power level it is difficult to be so consistent and you nailed it every time.
Good for you Georgia, you have really turned into one solid bracket racer in the 5 years we've all been doing it! A competitor to be reckoned with....with the smile of an angel.
Oh I hope so! It would be my pleasure to meet you in the finals Joe. Thank you very much for the compliments.
Excuse me, but if my tranny gets fixed I may object to Joe being in the finals. If I can't make it then it's OK with me but Rick may also have something to say.

Oh for sure it would be my pleasure to be in the finals with any one of you fine gentlemen racers!
