I was talking to a guy who works the burn box at our local strip and he said I ought to come out and run the car just for fun. I don't ever plan on modding and even still have the Goodyear runflats (replaced just before I purchased), one day they'll be replaced with better ones.
It's only $17 to run all night but I don't really want to break stuff. I've heard all of the bad storys about wheel hop breaking stuff etc.
So what do you think? I know I won't set the world on fire but it would still be fun to blast down the strip, something I've never done. How do I go about launching a stocker A4 to minimze breakage?
I don't think breakage from hard launch is a real concern with a bone stock 03 A4. With a stock engine & TC you won't launch hard enough to really strain the DT.
Be sure to observe proper procedure at the track and stay out of the water box with street runnber.
Just do a little dry burn out to clean the rubber, stage up, leave on the 3rd yellow and enjoy the ride...
Be careful, one pass is enough to give you the bug to start to mod and race even more. It is a fever!!!
I was all about the bling until my buddy brought me to the strip one night. Then within 3 months I had sold all my bling and bought go-fast parts...
It is a blast, though. Go out and enjoy yourself. It is very unlikely that you will break anything with a stock A4.
When you go, watch the first couple rounds and observe how other cars burnout and stage. Ask questions. Everyone was new at somepoint. They will be happy to answer your questions.
Thanks for the pointers folks. I'll try to not let the bug bite.
I really am a stocker kind of guy though and even though it will never matter as far as value goes I do have probably the most unusual 03' produced. You'd never know it by looking at it White White Red. Less than 200 made in 03.
That kind of stuff is really only important to the owner, but I'd like to keep her as original as I can.
