Eric,
You are absolutely right about those street tires being dangerous. The Hoosiers even let loose in the Z.

Yes Ronnie. We can both agree that the driver mod is the best way to cut ET.

all advice given here is sound and right on the money, I laud you for bareing your skill level and expectations as it makes the advice that much more precise. As a diehard manual trans guy one tidbit I'de like to add ,when you stage your car light the first bulb hold the car at a steady RPM and work the clutch to inch the car forward once the car is in position you desire (deep stage ,shallow ect,) don't push the clutch to the floor depress it just below where it engages as it is a delicate balancing act of feeding throttle and getting the clutch out, the general idea is to get the clutch fully engaged all the while feeding the throttle just above the bog but below wheel spin.I find it much easier and a bunch more consistant knowing EXACTLY where the clutch hits ,with seat time you can hit some pretty impressive numbers with some pretty crappy tires don't expect to bracket race with crap tires as the crappy tires it is an extremely narrow envelope to get into to run the good times .I have run a number of times in the 11.90 range w/pilot sports and GY supercars on my 390 RWHP z/06 good luck ...hoping to see you Aug 14

If you were averaging 2.3x 60fts, then you could expect at least a one second reduction in ET right there with proper tire. If you also factor in quicker shifting and less wheelspin throughout 1st & 2nd gear, you ll probably shave off another .2-.30 second.

Sorry for this really late post haha.
I ran at Atco raceway not too long ago, weather was around 55 degrees and fell down to 42 degrees at 8pm. My C6Z06 is stock with stock EMT runflats (runcraps). Have about 16,000 miles on the EMT's. Being my very first time at the track, my best time was an embarrassing 12.6 at 120 mph... With a horrible 2.2 60ft.

I think the tires are almost shot heheheh.
