Default My Weekend at MIR

Qualified no. 2 with a 8.641@ 152.06

NO.1 Qualifer was a Honda 8.37@178? (which is who I ran in the finals)

Before I go any farther I KNOW MY LIGHTS SUCKEDand cost me the big time

RD 1 of Eliminations 8.779@ 143.73 (lifted)

RD 2 of Eliminations (I had a bye run)

RD 3 of Eliminations (Semi finals) 8.619@ 154.28 - 1.258 60'

RD 4 FINALS 8.46@ 155.44- 1.220 60'- 132.05 1/8 mph
Just a hand written slip from the tower, they wouldn't give me the (WIN) slip.

Re- run of the Finals 8.501@155.15 - 1.207 60'

Yes I said re-run of the Final
My opponent pre-stages, I pre-stage, then I stage, my opponent stages, the lights drop and I go, 8.46 later I get the win light.
(The rest is hear say)
At the booth I was told there will be a re-run because the starter raised his hand up at my opponent (between fully staged & the lights dropping on a .400 tree) because he heard or though ? my opponent had a leak. Was that my problem?
Not sure if he broke the beams, I think he did. I do know I rushed him staging right away (my plan) and he didn't built his boost up 100%

Anyway after a short cool down (and protest), we race again and I lose by .006
As I said, the tree cost me

It was a good weekend all n' all, I broke the Corvette IRS Supercharger record & Corvette IRS 60' record.

While it looks like you really were robbed and that win should've held (I wish it had ), if it was actually the starter's fault and not the racers, I might also see where calling for a rerun was legitimate. If the tables were turned I'm sure that any of us would want the same courtesy if it was actually a track error. But if the Honda was actually dripping/leaking then no, you clearly should've gotten that win all the way.

Dude, you did a little more than just break them LOL.
Doug's 8.63 and 1.27 sixty foot are by most accounts still considered really really fast...and you just made him look slow LOL.

Jay definitely a good weekend for you man. Sorry that the whole this ended that way.

Question for you, did you write that slip or them? LB3A is left before tree activiated which is weird the that would happen if they help him up. Maybe his car lurched forward then the starter raised his hand.

I was thinking on my way back today, you got a raw deal because you made that full pass and had to make another full pass while he only made one full pass. Your car could have been hurt on that pass and he had zero risk. Not sure what the rules are around this but monday morning quaterbacking i wonder if they could have force him to make a full pass before racing you so you both were on the same risk and cool down level. I wonder what they would have done if your car were not able to make another pass as in if it mysteriously threw the belt after the finish line and you did not have another...they could not have made him winner after forcing you to make that full pass he sat there. I have a sick feeling in my stomach that had you not made back to backs you could have run a few hundredths quicker. Sorry man. You still did GREAT!!!

Looks like it's not just the Corvette guys that agree with that.

Jay,

I read the YB thread.
Looks like you got screwed.

Sorry to hear it buddy.
You should request status as the co-winner of the event and get the rest of your winnings, as if you had split the purse.
Sort of like, if it had been a rain out and they could not race Monday for whatever reason.

This is a big deal in my opinion.
If MIR is so sorry, then they should make it right.
They have the power to do that.

Also, if you won the first race and the Honda won the second, then you should have made it best 2 out of 3 and raced one more time.
You had to hot lap your car. He didn't.

Too bad about your light, that could have changed everything.

Those are excellent points, Jay should NOT have been penalized for their (or the other driver's) mistake.

I was told "The starter thought he saw water leaking from Miller's car and stopped Miller, then discovered there wasn't a leak after all"

Now Jason (owner of MIR) says there was water leaking from Miller's car but not enough for a DQ , (just enough to hold Miller and let me take the run).
They should have let us race or DQ Miller. Finding all this crap out later upsets me.

A lot of Drama here lately.

Yeah I just read the whole Yellow Bullet thread and saw that. They dropped the ball, they tried to do the most diplomatic thing that they could under the circumstances but this was the finals of a VERY big race and unfortunately their solution to the problem just wasn't quite good enough in most people's opinions.
Either your win light should've stood or he should've been FORCED to make a solo pass to even the score prior to your rerun and if he'd declined to do so then it should've been a forfeit for him.
It was a tough situation with a tough call to be made but no matter how ya slice it you got the short end of the stick on this one for sure.

Congrats Jay. I read the whole yb thread, glad I don't drag race, I'd be in a fist fight every 10 minutes. You definately got ****ed. a win is a win, both cars fully stage race over. I hope the ******* accepts your etown challenge, and your terms. I know the 300.00 MIR is sending you doesn't cover much, but its 300.00 more than the 750 you won.
