I have a new rpm level4 trans ,new 373/quaife rear i'm installing.
What converter would you use ?
Car has 400 rwhp/378 rwt and i have a yank ss3600 with 20000miles and a few hundred 1/4 passes (1.62 60').
Would a 3 disc converter make enough diff? how about a ss4000?
How long (miles) does a converter last?
Thanks
Greg

That should actually be a very solid choice, especially for a street/strip use type combo.
Your sixty foots could be a little lower though and while a little higher stall might help do it I don't think you need it.
My car has seen mid to low 1.5s with similar power (393rwhp/380rwtq), only a 3200 stall (Vigilante) and only 2.56 gears (6L80) so I know your combo has more in it without swapping converters.

I wouldn't go with a multi disc converter in a naturally aspirated combination such as yours, at least not with only 400rwhp.
If anything it could actually hurt your ETs.

Depends on a lot of factors...
Street use only?
500 passes per year?
Bad/slipping trans?
If everything starts out fresh/new, is kept in constant working order and well maintained then any good/quality (Yank, Precision Industries, FTI, Neil Chance, Pro Torque etc.) aftermarket converter should last just as long as a factory stock one in my opinion.

Is that a new gear ratio for your car, if so what did you have?
I have close to the same numbers and have a 3200 breakaway stall with a built 4 L60 E 373 D44 rear.
The tranny is being rebuilt and the convertor is too.
A converter custom built by someone who races what he sells is a bonus !
Like Sarge says theres converters then theres convertors.
How they are set up means alot.
You want to call someone recomended who can explain things here he is.
These are the questions you want to ask !
