Default Second IHRA Points Event.....

Today was my second IHRA points event at CFRC in Orlando...it was a lovely day with clear skies and a high of 82*...the DA was right at +2200... a bit humid but not bad...

I had one of those days that we all have every once in a while...not good....

My first time shot I went completely up in smoke and idled through the traps at 28 mph...I realized my slicks were gone...only 190 passes on them too...lol

I had to get creative so I deep staged and left in second gear on my next time shot...launch was better but the motor nosed over before the shift light came on and the car stalled on track...I thought maybe I missed the shift light and banged on the limiter too hard...

I took a third pass and no, I did not miss the shift light before...it happened again and the car died on track...everyone thought it sounded like it was starved for fuel and I did too...

To be sure we put in a new set of plugs...I dart board dialed a 7.28 and went back to shallow staging and leaving in first gear...I got off the line half decent but when I hit second gear the car died again...I coasted off track again and finally got her started and back to the pits...

This time we pulled the fuel pump and removed the fuel filter...I was long gone from the event but the track let me take a time shot anyway...I did my usual routine and, without the fuel filter, I went straight downtown without so much as a hiccup...

I take the hit for this one as I let the fuel filter maintenance go three years.....obviously too long...new slicks and fuel filter go on next week and off I go again...

It was nice to see Dogboy show up with his vette...I hope it ran OK for you, buddy...

I wish this did not happen on a points day but you know the old saying...

Race it....break it....fix it....race it...rinse and repeat...
