I take it the starter does NOT hold the tree for DEEP STAGER'S in the CC 10.50 index.
That is what I was always told. You are on your own to deep stage. However, in qual 2 against Doug, he had "deep" written on his car but decided not to, and it felt like the starter held us there forever. I still would go by the rule that youre on your own so just triple bulb your opp like everyone else Sorry Vin but it didn't matter anyway and I probably even helped you since you had what an .063

I actually saw this a couple of times yesterday as well as last week. I could be wrong but isn't that exactly what would happen if one writes 'DEEP' on their car and then suddenly chooses to not turn off that top bulb?
And wouldn't something like that actually be frowned upon as it can hold up the program unnecessarily, potentially **** off the starter and then maybe have him drop the tree just that much faster next time ruining it for the rest of us that do go deep when it's written on the window?
I need ALL of the help I can get at that tree LOL so I don't want a disgruntled official timing me out while I'm still inching forward.
Or is it simply all 'Autostart' anyway and everything I just said is totally irrelevant? LOL
Deep is allowed in 10.50 and starter will NOT hold the tree.
Deep is allowed in 11.50 and starter WILL hold the tree.
That is the way it is supposed to be.
Why? It is because in 11.50 most drivers deep stage and two going deep is tough.
In 10.50, with the tbrake allowed, it is expected that most drivers are not going deep and the likelihood of two 10.50 racers wanting deep in the same pass is small.
Writing on the window it is for your opponent not the the starter in 10.50. if you are not sure don't write it on the car and just talk to your opponent before heading to the line. A better practice is to never write in 10.50
Writing it and not doing is not nice.
Doing it and not writing it is fine
This is how it is supposed to be and of course you know it does not always work that way 100% of the time. Nature of the human's being involved.

It did catch me off guard when I saw you go deep but I dont think it helped. In the second qualifier I had a .012 against Shen.

not nice, forgetful, slow meaning the tree drops before i get in, misunderstood, over courteous, over rated, under pressure, tired, tried, fried, sleepy, dopey, bashful, grumpy...on and on...I've called myself them all at one time or another.
What if you wrote deep and meant too, but couldnt bump in fast enough? Is that a "no-no?
Probably still a "no-no" but hey, if it happened only one time and it's an honest mistake then it's certainly no crime, sh*t happens.
I would just hate to think that others are intentionally doing it (ie: writing 'DEEP' and then going shallow) as a strategy or game of some sort to mess with their opponent's heads (and trees) LOL.

Well, I would have won the round if I did which would have taken out Shen, (all other points the same) so that should tell ya whether or not I intended too. I generally always curtiousy stage rather then just jumping in three bulbs, so Dave double bulbed quick and I didnt want to get caught bumping in while the tree fell.
I didnt go deep in qualifying because it's not my car, and I wanted to see where I would be without, to gudge where it would end up if I did go deep. No intended game playing, the pay out isnt high enough.
and I didnt want to get caught bumping in while the tree fell.
Oh that has happened to me WAY too many times in the past, I've finally figured out a method for avoiding it though and my lights have improved as a result. I'm sure staging/hitting the RPMs just right was no picnic in that supercharged beast that you were doing it with.

yeah, I have it down for my car, but jumping in and out of different cars makes it tougher.

When deep is allowed but not honored, I see no need to write it on the window. It just confuses the starter and possibly your opponent. I see no need to tell your opponent either. Just get in deep and do your thing.
