Default Shift help

A little about my setup and my recent outing.

I just purchased the car, 02 Z06, less then two weeks ago.

RPM did an auto conversion on the car in 08 with a Precision 2800 triple disc and C6 Z06 diff. The car also has a 383 with a D1SC Procharger currently on 10lbs with water/meth injection. on 14lbs the car put down 699 and 713tq. I don't know what the numbers look like at 10lbs.

Being a little bit in a hurry to have some fun, I took the car out on Friday on Toyo street tires. I was just looking for a decent mph to get a feel for what the car might do and nothing more.

Knowing that traction was going to be an issue, I tried to manually shift the car. I rolled into the car as soft as possible, but spun, and shifted at that time, but bounced off the rev limiter.... the car didn't want to shift right away. Once it did, I had the same technique in 2nd and had the same results blowing the tires and bouncing off the rev limiter not wanting to shift.

On the 2nd pass, I babied rolled into it in 1st and the car mostly stuck, I shifted early, but it still hung in first, bounced off the rev limitier. 2nd gear resulted in the same as the first pass and bounched off the rev limiter a little too much and broke the surpentine belt.

From what I have read, it looks like everyone leaves their car in 3rd. Keep in mind, I only tried to manually shift between the gears cause I knew it wouldn't hook and didn't want to prematurely shift, but maybe I should have.

Sunday night I found a nice dead end street and left the car in drive. I gently continued to roll on the throltle in 1st, stayed hooked up, and the car still wouldn't shift and bounced off the limiter at 6400. After a second or so, it shifted.

So.. if you have read this far, I should have my 275/40 17 Hoosiers tomorrow and on the car. I do plan on leaving the car in 3rd next time I race it, maybe this Friday.

The question is, does the car sound like the shift point is too close to the rev limiter (I assume the shift point is set in the computer). Or is it a case where I should only use about 90-95 of the throtle? My truck hangs between gears in a similar way. Or maybe I'm trying to judge too early without a good tire.

Thanks,
Corey

Any ideas? Going to hit the track Friday night. Or just wood it and cross my fingers.

Have you tried it with traction control off. If it senses any spin at all it won't allow the shift.

Whatever controller RPM used to control the shift points needs to be recalibarated. Call the previous owner or RPM for info.

I've always had it off.

Had the car out tonight, and with the new hoosiers, got a 1.493 60' on stock suspension, so thats cool. Backed off the loud pedal a little, and it stayed off the limiter for 1-2, but no matter what, wouldn't do a 2-3 shift until I completly backed out of it.

Anyway, I'll get the tune checked out. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

Thanks for a couple of the responses.
