Default Shook the Rust Off....

Last night I raced for the first time in 10 weeks...I did OK and made it to 5 cars...it was miserable weather, as usual...95* and 94% humidity...air like pea soup...it finally got cooler at 2AM, down to 78*...

Anyway, I won the first round going .034 light and one over...he ran dead on but I got him just enough on the tree....second round I have.....yup.....an .034 light and run one over for the win...my opponent was a 68 Camaro with a 496 BBC...he dialed 6.34 to my 7.24...he passed me at the stripe like I was parked...lol...

Third round I get a guy in an old Altima...he dials 12.52...I had to stage and wait for him to leave before going up on my converter...took forever....lol...I was a little off on the tree with a .036 light...I caught him at the stripe and led him through by .008....

Fourth round I get a friend in a fast Duster...he dials 6.60 and I decide to hold a couple at 7.27...then it happens...some street car kid back up his import into the water box hose bib...they cannot shut it off...a lake forms...finally they shut the water off to the entire track...I plow through the water and do a burnout....no smoke...they stop me since I still have water all over my slicks...

I do a second burnout but still water...they pull us up...sadly, the change in routine goofed me up and I went .016 red...it did not really matter because I spun like crazy and had a 1.69 short and went 7.39 on my 7.27 dial...the car was all over the place...

Luckily I had negotiated $40 from the pot.....the total pot was $1080...not bad for a $20 entry fee...I am back out the door later for another event at this track...IHRA SSS, no box...

Sorry guys...the event actually ended at 1:15 AM...I was on the way home when it hit that "low"...lol...

Today was Africa hot..track temp 152*...honestly it was not enjoyable at all...I am beat so the cliff notes are....I put the no box champ on the trailer in round 2 and made it down to 8 cars...Craig Gingrich and I lined up and I went red by .018 in the right lane...I could have sworn I hit that tree real good...we have all said that but.....

I got a call tonight that they cancelled the rest of the events today because the right lane tree was all goofed up...we all knew something was amiss when the entire first round went red in the right lane and all but one went red in that lane in round 2...you owe me one Craig....lol...

I was so hot I really could have cared less...trying to recoup for work at 9AM tomorrow...sigh...someone shot the temp gun inside my car in the lanes and it was 128*...sheesh...

Sounds like it was just a very light film of rust.

Anytime you can make it to the pay window is a good day. 2am racing is going to take a bit to get use to.

It looks like you had fun on Friday night. After 10 weeks you did good. On Saturday to hot. Well I went to Immokalee on Saturday my first run I put a8.40 my opponent put a 9.80 I get a 047 he gets 115 no problem took my foot off the gas and coasted for the Win . I am saying to myself too easy the next race I pulled up next to a pickup truck with win stickers all over it time to get a better on the light I put a 8.39 he had a 6.97 I get a 014 he gets a 062 I put three womps at the end I get a 8.396 on the money he gets 6.894 think God I got by that round. Now I am up for my third round I put a 8.38 he put a 8.95 some Firebird I get a 026 he gets a 060 no problem too womps my win light comes on. Now I get into the finals good deal I'm in the money now. They get the ladder. Now I have to race a friend of mine Sonny Freeland I pit it with him one of the best top end players in the game he has a station wagon I put a 8.38 on my dial he put a 10.96 I get a 057 he gets a 039 I ran a 8.383 he gets a 10.97 on the brakes. His win light comes on. Oh well. The moral of this story is to get a good reaction time....Rick

I think Randy went out in his second or third round Tom Booher went out early too surprising to me he always In the finals. Nikki was still in it I'm not sure about BJ they were racing the same S10 truck. I don't know who won I left. I couldn't wait to put the air-conditioning on. I will be probably be going back to immokalee this weekend if it doesn't rain....

I did the reverse trip, Ft Myers to Central Florida and Palm Beach. Long day driving, racing, and long long long drive home. I will be making Immokalee my "home" track and sticking mostly to the west coast at Bradenton and Sunshine. Special events on the East side will require an overnight stay.

I should have everything finally down by the end of this month.
