Tire sizing.
My car is all 18".
Can I run 17" drag radials in the rear with 18" in the front, or do I need to stay with 18"?
Sidewall;
295/35/18 or 17 vs 275/40 or 45 18 or 17
And finally, after a few runs, should I
Turn on the A/C OR turn on the HEAT to cool down.
Thanks........
You can run different size rims on the back vs front, no problem.
I wouldn't turn on either.... just have your hood up whenever you're not racing or moving in the lanes.... the hood open is the best way to cool a motor.
Ellis, in traffic, I usually turn the A/C on to cool down a few degrees, but at the track, you won't be driving long enough to do that. So parking and opening the hood is your best bet.
We all (at E-Town) use Pro Coolers to aid in our cool down. Better than a bag of ice since we won't get any water drip.
But you can use a bag of ice, just make sure you pull it off your intake before you run, yes, we've seen guys forget!
I usually turn my ac on until I am about ready to do a burn out, otherwise I will go to the line at around 210 degrees. It's very usefull if you have a long line in front of you.
How many runs in a row should you do? I did about 8 within a half hour on saturday? should i limit it to 4 and then sit out some time to let the engine cool down? :confused:
Ellis, Saturday is not a true indicator of how quickly you will have to go back to racing. At a regular race day you will wait about 40 minutes between runs.
You can also get the procooler at the forum mall.
To keep the car cool, consider a lower temp stat, with Hypertech programmer to reset fans or custom tuning and a throttle body bypass mod.
Yep, I'll be there 5/25.
I'll probably get some BFG DR's in the 275/40 size (deceided against the 315/35, wanted more sidewall), and a line lock. I actually like how my cars runs with the stock t-stat, steady 190.... See you there!
