Does anyone have correction factors for e.t. and mph to account for a headwind? Weather forcast for our track rental tomorrow is for 15-25 mph winds right in our face. No question we'll be running slower but it would be nice to get an idea of how much slower to see if changes in the car have had a positive effect since last time we ran.
my drag racing simulator predicts a 10mph head wind would hurt ETs by .06 sec and 1 mph. But i know from experience the effect is generally less (particularly on mph). In fact i was at Leb Valley driving into a good 20+ mph head wind, and it maybe hurt my speed 1 mph at most and had very little effect on my ETs (even corrected for DA). Go fiure????

My experience tells me that a head wind has a negligible effect on my car. I attribute this to two reasons. First, I only hit 90-92 mph in the 1/4. Second, I think the Corvette shape (C4 in my case) "cheats" the wind more than most cars. I had a 5 day meet out of town a year or two ago, at which my best time and speed of the meet was into a 40 mph head wind. It HAS to make some difference, but I really don't think it effects us as much as most cars. While everyone else is dialing UP to counter act a head wind, I leave mine alone, and often out run them. Because I CAN.
