Default And so it begins.....

This weekend began another IHRA Summit Super Series points season at my home track, CFRC....we started with a super gamblers on Friday night...the track puts up the first $500 and all the $20 tech cards are added on top of that...we had 18 cars so it paid $860 to the winner....

So I decided to have a little fun....I knew my slicks were shot but ran them anyway to do monster burn outs and get the crowd going...my new slicks are sitting in my garage...what was I thinking?...sheesh!....

I did the John Force stuff and everyone had a ball but I could not race with them worth a flick...my first pass off the trailer I go 7.30 spinning and then go 7.13 on my second...then 7.18 then 7.29...good grief!...

Anyway I went two rounds in the gamblers and went out running a 7.29 on a 7.17 dial...I called spinsies but no one was listening...I then retreated to the hotel for the night...

After a good breakfast (free) and a late check out I went over to the track to help a buddy with a small oil leak...we then loitered until 4 PM when they officially opened for the points event...

I did my giant burn outs again and the car was all over the place again...first round I get a friend in his pick up...he dials 11.50...I put 7.15 on the window...he takes off and I order fires with my burger and finish lunch before leaving...I thought my tree would never drop...of course, I spun like crazy and just caught him at the top end...I did tree him .025 to his .116 but won on a double break out...I was under by 5 thou...

Second round I get the winner of the gamblers the night before...a local hitter in a real nice Dart...he dials 6.99 and I dial 7.14...I clip him on the tree .031 to his .076 but I go sideways at launch...I run 7.22 but he breaks out going 2 hun under...whew!...lucky ducky...

Round three I get a Mustang dialed 10.48...he is from another track and known to be pretty good...he leaves and trees me .028 to my .038...I am dialed 7.20 and spin again...he parks at the stripe and still breaks out...I run 7.29...sigh...better to be lucky than good, huh?...

Fourth round I get a guy I know and don't care for...I am very focused on whipping his butt and so wish I had tires...oh well...I dial 7.28 to his 7.39...I get him on the tree, .039 to his .078...all of a sudden I catch him...it is way too early so I begin whomping...I end up doing six big whomps and lead him through by half a car...what?...his win light comes on...yup, I broke out running 7.27 with a 6...

All in all I can not complain even though I wanted his butt badly and had him by the throat..fooey!...

I did get 50 points to start my campaign....the new slicks go on this week and I run the opener of the NHRA Summit Series on Saturday at the other Orlando track...

Yes, the weather was real nice...high of 72 on Friday and 74 on Saturday, crystal clear...this is why we put up with July and August down here...

I got ya...what you see is a car that moved as many as 17 numbers between rounds......I was trying to dial for spin which , as we know is impossible...

First pass off the trailer I went 7.30 with a 1.68 short....very next pass I went 7.13 with a 1.55 short...no, I wasn't holding much, just guessing out my butt...I did hold a couple, maybe, in round four...

Sorry for the confusion....I will never try racing on shot tires again...

Is holding .14 a problem? Install the new sneakers and go get them. My season starts next weekend.

Spent tires ruined my last race of the season.

I was trying to squeeze the last bit of life from my bald M/Ts and ended up launching primarily off the left tire. This caused my stock left axle to snap, losing my wheel and then as I steered left to get out of the lane, ran into said axle and wheel which were rolling beside me causing door and fender damage.

The worst part was it was the 4th round and I treed my opponent .010 to .040.

The worst worst part was I had a brand new set of Hoosier's in the garage.

OUCH I was running a way outdated set of MT radials & was all over the place with a big wheel hop issue. I just got a set of Hoosier DR's mounted but haven't tried them out yet.

Dan you going to CFRC next sat??

No, I will be at Speedworld for their NHRA opener...you really don't want to go to CFRC on a Saturday except to the IHRA points events...if you want to test n tune, go to CFRC on a Friday night...

Wait....I just realized they are having a "street" class event over there...is that what you speak of?...if so, that would be good fun for you...I can't run my car in that class so I am not sure of the exact date...

Vinnie tells me you will get to run the street class event for nothing....pay the normal $15 entry fee and race brackets for a trophy...btw, do an extra good burnout on those new tires for the first run...then just a light burn out...

p.s. I just checked and see that the street deal is this Saturday...go and have fun, buddy....I race again there on the first Saturday in Feb...

Hey Robert...sorry but I goofed up on the streetcar shootout this Saturday at CFRC...a friend called to ask about it so I checked with the track...

It is $15 to enter which is nothing more than the test n tune fee...the rules are you must drive your car in with tags, etc...but...it pays $300 to win and, more importantly, you must run 8.49 and slower...

I know you run a lot quicker than that...you can still test n tune if you care to...sorry for the mistake...if I did not have the Summit event at Speedworld I would run the Yukon King...

Hey Robert, you need to pull a Rick put a 8.53 on your dial and have some fun sandbagging. For a $15 entry fee can't be that. And if you go out early you still have test and tune...
