Default Double DQ....

If you race long enough I guess everything will happen...last night was the SSS points event at CFRC...unseasonable cool weather with temps at 80*.....I had two good time shots, 7.092 and 7.088...

First round I get plucked for the bye...I pull off to the side and wait...I know we have an even number of cars so I will be running the last guy in line...he happens to be in a 72 Nova with a SBC and spray...he dialed 6.02...

Everyone else runs so I pull up to my water box and wait for him to pull from the staging lane...he never does...finally I ask the starter and he motions me to a competition single which is important to me because now I can still get a bye later on...

I pull up and in the middle of my burnout the car dies...I mean like I shut it off...that abruptly!...I start my routine over and it will not start...fuel pump is screaming and plenty of pressure...starter is turning over fine...WTF?.....

They push me back and I am DQ'd along with my opponent who did not make the call...as the next class is called up I try starting again and the car jumps to life like nothing happened...every gauge reads perfectly as well...the first two cars of the next class are in the water box so I am toast...

I drive back to my pit with no problem...went up on the converter and all was good...we take off the hood and check the dizzy, coil and MSD...all good...there must be a wire somewhere that is loose and lost connection just for a minute...this is the worst kind of issue to have...I will be checking the Painless harness, etc....

BTW, it turns out my opponent refused to run the left lane since I had the right lane...his car was fine...apparently there is a bump at 330' in that lane which affects the faster cars and he did not want to chance it....

So, the bottom line is I lost after getting the bye and a comp single as well....oy yoy yoy, Papa!.......

That guy with the 72 nova should have stage should have waited for the red light or something like that you never know I'll bet you he's kicking himself in the ***. But that really sucks with your car shutting off like that. Time to check your fuel filter you never know.

Thanks guys...I hate these kind of issues...intermittent is the worst...I doubt it is fuel related...I had a solid 8 pounds of pressure and the fuel pump was running perfectly when it would not re-start...I am leaning towards a wire issue somewhere...I had plenty of power as the starter was turning over strongly...sigh...
