Last season I had a problem at the track with doing a burnout when the rear was cold, only one tire would spin and it would make crazy noises. I changed the lube, and all was well. Now I was looking for a noise I heard at the track yesterday and found nothing wrong under the car. But... I can take the tires when it is in the air and turn them opposite ways. I could hold one and turn it, or the other. I'm thinking my diff is shot since I can do this. If it is are there any aftermarket ones for the Dana 44 or are you stuck with the stock units?
Clutch pack kit on order. It includes all the guts of the diff including spiders. Just hope the rear holds out for the Challenge on Sat, then for Pocono on Monday :D

Re: Dana 44 differential (Vic'89)
It all in the way your doing yopur burnouts. Your putting to much stress on the rear.
Can you explain to us the correct way to do a burnout ?
Thanks
Vic
The big problem I see is that most poeple start their burnout by easing into the gas instead of shocking it. I now flash to 5000 rpm and back down to 4000. I fell this less stressful on the spider gears and posi.
I know most will disagree but look how long my Dana 36 lasted.
