Really curious. What, if any, are the db levels the different race tracks impose. Or maybe it's not that big a deal for drag racing. I know the road racers and autocrosser's are really getting cracked down on. Thanks, JCL

Re: " Db levels.............." (JCL)
At Englishtown it 90 to a max 95 dbs. This also was self imposed by the track for all the heat it takes over noise. E-town even had to move some of it's classes to noise days becouse even with full exhaust the car were way over the 110db mark.
You will see this now throughout the country as homes start to be built in the area of the tracks.
mackeyred96. I know the infringement of the population on a track WILL cause the track to have no choice in the matter. You reach a set Db level, or don't race.
To reach that level though, you have to give up some power. Then you have to try to regain what you lost!! Interesting. Thanks, JCL :D
JCL... I'm still looking at getting your spiral inserts for the sidepipes on my 69! (Of course I need to get a job first!) but I'll let you know if they pass the regs at Englishtown.. My hooker glas packs which are in the car now (although they are completly wasted) are very close... I had them measured at 95db from 10 ft at the back of the car. (4000 rpm)
Do you think your pipes will be quieter??? Just curious!!!
Mike. I db'd my Vette at 30' from the side at 1000rpm's idle with the baffles and got 81db's. Same deal without and jumped to 97 db's. Thats almost 3.5 times louder. Haven't done any under throttle though......... but a guy in Florida who uses his Vette only for road racing (Sebring mostly) was at the top of the scale (102-3) with a POPULAR racing muffler. Won't mention here. Got him set up with a custom length baffle uncapped and now he's at 95-96 and thats under power. Not to bad. Thats why I'm curious about the drag racers. I know the db level is coming for ALL soon.............. Just a matter of time. So to answer your question, yes quieter. And with little loss of power if any. There again EVERY situation is different. Dyno test would be the only way to know as far as power, and the tracks db meter for meeting the sound level. JCL :yesnod: :D
JD 90 383. Good times. Nice car. I'm working with a guy right now on a C5 (C4 after) to put on the baffles and see what happens. This is a whole new ballgame, but worth it to see if any improvement in sound and performance can be had at a reasonable $$$ figure. Tests will be done. Anybody that has had their Vette db'd for the drag strip I would be interested in the results. Thanks. JCL :yesnod: :D
